Topic Changed to the Renault Engine rename.

Red Bull set for Audi tie up?

2010 Constructors champions Red Bull Racing looks set to agree a deal with Audi to use their engines in Formula 1 in 2013. This follows months of speculation in which the German manufacturer was also linked to Williams F1...

Thought this image would whet appetites...

If something like this does come to happen then surely this would seal RBR's posistion at the top? Not only that but Audi entering F1 would make it 10 times more awesome. I just really really hope BMW come back too. Surley they would with the prospect of fighting against Audi and Mercedes with engines that actually can be road relevant.

What is VW's involvment with STR exactly? Ive never looked into it or read much about it? Obviously nothing major...

It would be fantastic to have the VW Group enter F1 in some way.

I would prefer it be with Williams though, as they need proper manufacturer support if they want to fight at the front regularly.

Chet, I think the VW/STR link is mainly through trucks and transporters, but I'm not completely sure.

Transport and logistic vehicles. Nothing to do with the competition aspect.

There could be an announcement today;

"Major luxury automotive brand enters F1 with world championship winning team, says a press release from the PRISM agency today. Who and Who?" Adam Hay-Nicolls on Twitter.

So it could be Audi and Red Bull, but there is still hope for those wanting a Williams deal. If it were to be Williams, you would think it would have been announced yesterday though, at the launch.

There have also been rumours of Renault shifting Red Bull to the Infiniti brand, but I wouldn't call them a 'major' brand.

Someone is wording it out as Williams and... Jaguar... LOL!

More news in point it as Red Bull and Infiniti. Horner was on BBC Breakfast news today.

Stolen...

''RedBull Racing have been using Renault engines for a few years now, Nissan work closely in Europe with Renault in the Renault-Nissan Alliance where they share manufacturing plants ect, and Nissan apparently want to rebadge the RedBull team's Renault engine to 'Infinity' - the name of the Nissan luxory car division.

An announcemnet is expected on 31/01/2011 regarding the situation between RedBull and Infiniti''

I guess it takes the Renault name away from the Lotus troubles.

Infinity - American brand right? Well, more so American than European... I suppose good for Nissan. And RB Infinity sounds pretty cool! How does RedBull perform in America btw? Could be a way to sell more cans for them, and more cars for Nissan.

Still, RedBull and Audi is 100x better than anything else that could happen!

Infiniti is primarily an American brand, but they do have car dealerships in Europe and some in the UK (14 dealerships in the UK when they started flogging them here in 2009). I've seen them advertised out and about a bit.

If they are going to rebrand the engines then just call them Lotus. Everyone else is.

It's going to take more than a name on an F1 car to sell some rebadged Nissans.

Actually, it hasn't. It seems to have been widely reported that they are being badged Infinitis, but according to Red Bull the engine is still a Renault and Infiniti is a sponsor only.

I've heard of Infiniti(or Infiniti-badged) engines powering cars in motorsport before, but this seems pretty random. I'd imagine it's been over-hyped by the media though.

They ran IndyCar engines until 2002. Binned the program when people still didn't want to buy Nissans.

They've gone about it the right way this time though!! RBR are a marketing dream, likewise Vettel is too!

I hope they feature logos on the car in testing, I want to see how it will look.

They have already produced some concept images to show where the logos will be; racesuits, helmets, nose, rear wing and cockpit side
