wow, 1 second already?
Okay, they can run a team on £40mil but if they dont want to be back of the grid then they need to spend more. I expected a similar step up to Lotus but that hasnt been the case. For whatever reason they've kept the same internals, whilst Lotus have moved forward with a new engine/gearbox and hydraulics.
The last few months ive been reading about various data acquisition methods for wind tunnels, and the more i read/speak to poeple in the know the more I believe a CFD only approach will not be successful for a while. Tunnels are advancing at an impressive enough rate to still keep CFD at bay. I recently spoke to someone who did some work for BAR, and Williams improving their tunnel techniques, he was pretty appauled at their methods of trial and error with CFD with the need to push through development with no real thought.
I really think Branson should pump more money in. This team will not get anywhere otherwise.
It should be noted that this car has had at least 1 day in the tunnel.
