Oh well...

Just there for the sake of being there? The new car must technically be "finished". Bit stupid for it to miss the first test by a couple of days.

They said it's planned not to attend to first test with new car. I don't know why. Maybe they are trying to test tyres without new car. Since they know MP4-25 well, they'll have only one variable and it's the tyres. If they've brough MP4-26, they would have to analyze two variables at the same time.

James Allen said the DDD was partly blocked off...

Besides, I expect the 26 to have at least the level of downforce the 25 did.

I went to the track. It's nice to smell the F1s again. I shot 2000 pictures (bursts... wrong angles...). Once I delete the bad ones, I'll post them here :)

Winglets on the brakeducts are legal now (RBR)? Though I suppose if moveable wings are allowed....

The teams are pushing the boundaries very far, which I like, its their job after all, but I think the FIA is having a hard time keeping up. I hope they are really thinking things through when they undo rules like this. They sure haven't done in the past, like when they opened up the area for the F-ducts.

According to Auto Motor Und Sport, McLaren has also developed an exhaust similar to Renault.

Time will tell whether the Renault exhausts are better than a Blown diffuser. Personally, I'll put my money to Renault, because with Double diffuser banned, the exhausts can't produce as much downforce as last year. I'm not an engineer or anything, but that's what I think.

Apparently Lotus (green) have decided not to use KERS. I thought KERS was now mandatory?

No, none of last year's rookie teams are running it.

It's not, but since the minimum weight of the car has increased for 2011 season, teams with "heavy" drivers (like Kubica or Webber) don't have a disadvantage against "light" drivers (like Kobayashi or Vettel). However, teams with low budgets can choose not to install it.

But my question is: Weren't they going to introduce it during the season? Because that's what I read last month.

I think I read this week that Lotus could use it later this season (buying it from Renault presumably - maybe they've already paid for it as part of their package), but they've no intention of running it for the first part of the season.

I've had a bit of a manic week or 2, so I may have dreamt the above.
