Will be interesting to see who enters bidding, but more importantly who gets the nod.

I'm sure they will be particularly careful this year after the embarrassing failure of US-F1.

It will also be interesting to see which of the 2010 applicants apply again.

if VW Group enters F1, they could enter like Volkswagen, or Porsche, or Seat, or Audi, or even Lamborghini...

now there are even rumours about Williams linking up with VW

If a large manufacturer did want to enter F1, I'm sure they would want an indication by the FIA of the future engine plans in particular for the sport, because at the moment it is quite unattractive for new manufacturers.

i wonder if f1 gonna shift their f1 cars to put headlights for night races... and no more post lights attached on every corners street in f1... and with a little lights for the audience. or even no lights at all with f1 drivers using just NIGHT VISION attached to their visors.... haha i can't guess how many will retire in the first lap!

Continuing that train of thought, maybe we should have a special waterlogged section of racetrack - and snipers.

Muthbusters tried night-kart-driving in the last season. So driving in darkness and with goggles and even with night-vision it didn't work really well, as you lack 3d-vision.

@Incident 2k9

In CTDP we had some fun discussions of applying as the new team. I mean we could create some renders of our new car and at least end up with the same results to show of as USF1 did! :D

Epsilon Euskadi appears to be the first team to confirm they will enter the bidding race for 2010.

you mean 2011?

anyways the article reads

All applicants will be expected to undergo thorough due diligence. By way of indication only, the applicable selection criteria will include:

(a) the technical ability and resources of the team;
(b) the ability of the team to raise and maintain sufficient funding to allow participation;
(c) the team’s experience and human resources;
(d) the FIA’s assessment of the value that the candidate may bring to the Championship as a whole.

logistically it's a bit of work to do for a new team, and people will need to spend money and invest
with only 1 slot available, let's say at least 3 teams apply.. what happens with the ones that don't get chosen?, they will need to swallow everything up?

last year was a lot more attractive to enter as there where 3 slots available but now it's a bit of a gamble... all thanks to USF1 and Mosley

It's probably more down to pre-agreements with partners and sponsors, so there won't be an awful lot committed until they're officially signed up. Look at Lotus last year - they apparently only had 4 staff when they were given the go-ahead.

The last criteria (d) annoys me, as it's the same bit which led to Campos and USF1 failing - they (well Bernie) wanted another route into the US in particular. There was clearly little technical knowledge or resources (or of the time-frames needed), neither had enough money, and Campos only had experience in the lower formulae - USF1 had none. It's basically a clause which sets off the $$$ signs in Bernie's eyes.

Surely another Spanish entrant would clear the way and compromise a drop of a Spanish track, say, Catalunya, in favour of one of Bernie's new money tracks such as India or Russia.

.

Well you'd still need to find a random bit of carbon fibre.

The more and more you look at it.... the more moronic it looks to have chosen USF1, Campos etc over Prodrive, Epsilon and Lola. Don't get me wrong, Manor look like a very exciting prospect with the support of Virgin, and Lotus (Malaysia F1) have done a very impressive job of building a competent team in a very short space of time, whilst Kolles has worked a miracle getting Campos on the grid at all.

But there is a sense that there would have been none of these problems if Epsilon and Lola entered as constructors. Prodrive may have had a wobble, since their last effort was based on customer cars and then the carpet was swept out from beneath their feet, but they are far more impressive notion than USF1 or Campos.
