The Official 2010 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix Thread ***SPOILERS***

Alonso is a similar driver to Mansell IMHO just for pure determination. He wrings the neck of any car he's given! From that respect, I'd also lump him in the same category as Keke Rosberg and Gilles Villeneuve.

IMO that will apply to most, if not all drivers. Lewis is the same, if the cars underneath him then he is as smooth as Jenson, yet next race if he's got a bodged car you will see pointing his car in the opposite direction to the corner, just to get it round!

Vader i am really really sorry if i said something wrong ok sorry for that.

The fact is that i dont like vettel although i german but i really think that Fernando would have catched vettel at bahrain.

The only advantage he had was the (very good) Renault engine because of that he could start with less fuel and he was faster at the first stint so thats my opinion of it ok.

"And thats the bottom line cause Alonso0506 said so"
Niki Lauda Q&A:

Q: Niki, with everyone running low fuel this season qualifying should really show who is quickest. Were you surprised that it was Sebastian Vettel and Red Bull who were the pacemakers in Bahrain?
Niki Lauda: No, because to be surprised I would have had to have known who was the fastest. Everybody who thought they would be able to make a prediction after testing is an idiot. Nobody tested under similar conditions, so whoever made a statement before Saturday afternoon was at best a phony.

;) Gotta love the man's straight-forward answers.
Spot on though.

Whilst it's fun to try and predict who's going to be the form during winter testing. Anyone who thinks they can really make a good prediction based on testing laptimes are really deluded.

At best if they nominate the right car, it's a lucky guess whether it's been educated or not. People can look at stint times and try and guestimate fuel levels as much as they like, the truth of the mater is that they simply do not know. The teams might have some technology that gives some good info on their rivals, by they're not about to share that with the medial or any forumer are they? :P

The testing times suggested that he established teams would again be really close on terms of pace, Bahrain pretty much blew that expectation apart. Although it could yet be very different at Melbourne.

Hehe :D it looks like you're limited as yard. You're watching things only from perspective that suits you.
And the things that you're saying, are real bull*****.Fan boys should skip this thread imo.Because it's pointless to argue with persons like you.
No matter what people say, whether it's right or wrong, you're always like "ALONSO IS BEST" and so on.I'm not saying that Alonso is not a good driver
he is a GREAT driver indeed. But how can u talk like that about Vettel? And just tell me,WHAT makes you think that Alonso could have passed Vettel at Bahrain?
Vettel was faster all race long (until his sparks failed),and he kept Alonso 2-5 sec's behind him all the time.Alonso was no where near even to TRY to overtake him.

Alonso goes faster than his car all the time, you´re right putting him in the same line as Mansell and Rosberg... but Gilles was unique... I mean, in his debut he and his old McLaren M23 was faster than the M26s... and I dont think Alonso can be 9.5 secs faster than his teammate in the rain, like Gilles was with Scheckter in USA 1979... he was unique.

@ Ho3n3r: Niki is right there :) but there are many other quotes than makes us think his brain was partialli burned in Nurburgring ;)

@alonso0506: when are you going to stop posting fanboy comments? you cant say Vettel was ahead Alonso because the Renault engine. 1st of all, Vettel made an awesome strategy in qualy to get the pole (he made his flaying lap later than anyone), and he was driving like a veteran in the race, taking care of his tyres, until the problem in the engine, that didnt stopped him and managed to get a very respectfull 4th place. and 2nd: the Renault engine is about 20 HP less powerful than the Ferrari engine, it has the best fuel compsumtion but its slower and bahrain has some long straights. Vettel wasnt ahead Alonso half the race because his engine has the best fuel compsumtion.

1979 was a different year in f1 era, i bet if alonso was their he would do as quick as what gilles did or even if ayrton senna is their.. maybe he is 10 secs faster... rain god master... anyway we can't even tell if gilles could pull off a seconds if he is in this f1 era.

Yes, with the current cars, the differences between drivers are limited, so while Alonso, or others, may have been able to emulate feats such as being 9.5 seconds faster as Gilles did, it wouldn't happen with the modern cars.

X (@ed24f1)
Gilles wasn't noted for his speed as such, it was his balls-around-the-ankles effort he put into every single corner, and the style in which it was carried out.

It was always going to kill him.
Gilles drove a style, in essence some entire races, lap by lap of corners and moves a la Hakkinen/Schummi/Zonta @ Spa and Alonso @ 130R Suzuka.

Jenson drives it like he owns it; Lewis drives it like he stole it
oh God............ it really was a boring race wasn't it?................. we're talking about F1 in the 80's........... way to go off thread!

anyways Schumi for OZ 2010 win!

LMAO
i dont know. ..but hey , wait until monaco
and watch out for Schuey there for sureeee :P
The man is probably the best around this track , together with ayrton ;) . So i can put some money on schumi scoring a vitcrory in the monegasce's streets .
Who's with me ? :)
