What's so wrong about giving Hamilton credit where credit is due? I can't stand Lewis as a person, but I'll admit he did the best job he could today, and really deserved his podium. People are entitled to not like a driver but praise them where praise is due, or vice versa.

L0l Spurious ......................? Indeed, a world Champion ship is not won in a day. How many years did it take Button to accidently win one? Say that again ... I can't hear and for the record Michael did not finish where he started he started seventh and finished sixth. The fact is, he finished where most people thought he would but it seems by your re-action Button did not., commiserations on that one.

I suspect it was creating an intermittent misfire - as usual, Martin Brundle seemed to spot it immediately, and even over the extremely loud drone of Legard ;)

i think i read somewhere that cars must have a litre of fuel left in the car at the end of the race so fia can analyse it. cant remember where this was though. anyone come across this?

It has been updated from when I first read it. When I 1st read it it was 3 lines long.

Bizarre. You can "analyse" said fuel from 1ml, not 1l.

Overall, a tad worrying for the season ahead. Alonso is in the zone, as you would say. Difficult to see anyone beating him over the course of the year. It seems there is there very little in the way of overtaking, which is another unsayable-word-up from the FIA as far as I'm concerned. But these bloody Tilke dromes don't help. I always thought Bahrain was one of the better ones but Christ, what an awful circuit. Worst opening GP ever, well at least the worst since 1995 after which Melbourne took over and oozed action. I think we need to form a syndicate and take Mr Herman out. Faggot. So it's nice to be back and everything, but like, quest le furk? But the Renaults are gorgeous.

Anyway, onto far more important things. Who has a DS? Pokémon Soul Silver and Heart Gold come out soon. @#$%& me sideways.

Watch your language baby.

I agree with you it was a horrible start into the season and the refueling ban is stupid - the cars are so heavy that truck racing looks faster (as I said before.)

However, I don't think that no one can beat Alonso. If Vettel's car hadn't let him down Alonso would have never had a chance to win the race. So if the Red Bull doesn't break down Vettel will be the one to beat.

Shorray Vadey. I think I was in the process of re-editing it as you were so I clicked submit and re-edited your edit. It's my birthday weekend and I've been getting excitable ;)
With so many people all over the place complaining that the racing is now extremely dull, one of the reasons being that overtaking was much more difficult, I wonder if this will be a blessing in disguise?

Think about it. Maybe this will kick-start FOTA and the FIA into introducing the proper changes to the cars that we've been screaming out for for so long. Less reliance on aerodynamics, more emphasis on mechanical grip? Even if this doesn't happen, the outcry is so large that something is bound to be done to improve F1. I can see this happening especially as Jean Todt is now the president of the FIA.

That said, we haven't even given F1 2010 a good chance yet. Every season has it's bad races, let's leave it a bit longer before we judge the new regulations.

On a positive note, I think watching the onboards of the cars fuelled up at the beginning of the race was amazing! Oversteer aplenty, with some real driver control. I especially liked the new fast corner that was turn 6.

i also think that australia will be another story ... not because i am a hopeless optimist , but because bahrain is just .................. well c'mooon when was the last time we had cars overtaking here , last year vettel i think was stucked behing trulli for ages. 2008 and 2007 werent really different with the ferraris dominating .
So on circuits where the variety of the fast , meaningless corners (typcal for Tilke) isnt so big , we will have great great races. and i agree with Eddie jordan that when rain comes into play it will get even more exciting. malaysia and australia will be very interesting. .. then spain and monaco will bring a little bit less emotions again :).
I am almost sure about it.
Another thing that could provide more entertainment is M..S getting to his old driving (mid and end 90's) and putting some stunning drives . We'll see but for sure this will be an entertaining season .

AND for everybody who didnt like the race i will say that even one of the greatest seasons so far (2006) began with a chase between michael and alonso here, in Bahrain, and no on e could overtake the other :)

GIVE 2010 A CHANCE ;)
GOOD NIGHT :)

seriously?

Also remember that this was only some sort of test race for the teams. Nobody really knew what would happen. You can do race stints during a test, but it's not quite the same. I'm sure later in the season we'll see some more wacky strategies, but now (and probably in Australia too) the strategies will be quite straightforward because teams need to adapt to this and see where the possible advantages might be.

Well said.
I think this season will change, develop and evolve over its course more than any other in recent years. Because of the unknowns caused by the new rules, because several teams have clearly under-developed cars at the moment, and because of the length of the season too. Whatever happens, this race has only been the tip of the iceberg.

And Australia traditionally has much better races than Bahrain does.

The root of all evil rather than the tip of the iceberg. Who wants to see unwieldly cars crawling around the track in single file like a sedated version of mother goose and her goslings?

REHAB IS FOR QUITTERS
As a race to watch from grandstand, I enjoyed every moment of it. But today F1 is too good, its too efficient. Even with differences in drivers/cars everything is so closley matched. This is why overtaking doesnt happen. As gav says, we need large differences. However, like I said, as a race it was good for me because I for the first time I could visually see Lewis closing Massa, Alonso visually closing Vettel, Button visually closing Schumacher, and Webber visually dropping back (on purpose?) then next lap be on Buttons gearbox. It was fascinating from that stand point. And right from Friday, watching the RedBull and Ferrari and Kubica into turn 1 was amazing. On TV you could never see or hear (more important) the differences. If anyones been to a race you will know. Listening and watching both Ferraris and both RB's and Kubica being on throttle waaaay before anyone else was amazing. It didnt stop at that. Practice, qualifying, and in the race, Vettel was amazing underbraking. Visually it was as obvious as night and day, and thats what has amazed me this weekend.

I watched the race on TV after, and yes borefest, but for me, watching little differences and how they change through a race was amazing. Just the sight of Lewis being little bits closer to Massa one lap, behind the next was amazing. Watching Lewis underbraking against Nico.

But yes, on the race not great. Button didnt show as well as he could or should have. He will improve no doubt but not a great first race IMO. I do think he was closer than I thought at the first race though, he was at least the equal of Heikki but difference is Button has scope to improve. Towards the end of the first stint you could see he had used his tyres better than a few in front, then moment Kubica posted fastest lap i knew as you did that that was that. 1 stop, hard tyres, race done. Lewis on the other hand was fantastic IMO. Had he not been stuck behind Nico I strong believe he would have been giving Massa some grief. Brilliant race from him, and showing Mclaren are not as bad as the Saturday made them appear.

If in Aus Vettel and Webber do not finish 1 - 2 I will be stunned. That car looked planted without trying. Ferrari will push hard but that RedBull was mind-blowing to watch.

Also, glad to see Nico beat Schumacher. I think Schumacher will improve slightly but people realyl need to take Nico serious! He is by far one of the most under-rated drivers. IMO Schumacher will only beat him in a handfull of races. As long as Nico started with the upper hand, I believe he will finish with it. Taking Vettels amazing pole lap.. I do not believe Schumacher can now do that. I believe he can race as hard and as quick as before, but when it comes to an all out lap, I do not think he will be as good as before. Vettels lap was amazing and one of the best qualifying laps ive seen in a while IMO.

On Ferrari, it was as expected. Alonso was never going to trounce Massa, but he did beat him well and truely. It will be very close between them and amazing to watch!

Bring on Aus. Always actioned packed. I hope hope hope hope for a Button/Lewis/Kobayashi (:p) win but could so easily see Webber take it. And who would be disapointed at that???

Point taken - fair enough.

Just simply making two points. Michael was not where most people thought he would be prior to the start of the weekend and Jenson like Hamilton took one place at the pitstops. The drivers can't overtake. Button finishing around a second behind Schumacher does'nt look like being nowhere to me.
