The Official 2010 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix Thread ***SPOILERS***

Woo great to see Alonso and Ferrari back at the top. His start was agressive and perfect, without that move he probably would have only came 2nd to Massa after poor Vettels issue. I was genuinely sorry for Vettel, he was driving amazing and deserved this win!

Without the long middle sector he would have came further down the order so im glad he got 4th atleast!

Ohhh and I placed a bet on Alonso and made £12.50! Before the race I really thought it would win, I guess Vettels problem helped in the race but happy days!

Massa imo is going to get cooked, even at one of his good tracks he was beaten by a good margin.

Glad to see the new teams not doing so bad, good for them!

I also think the tyres should be changed so 2stops would be needed and the new pit lane rule sucks. Just let human judgement stay ;)

i think Massa had been saving fuel for a big bunch of laps so actually he may be a little bit closer to Alonso than it seems to
Yeah Massa had a problem so the gap is not really relevant at all.
Alonso started beating his teammate at Mclaren as well.,
when Kimi joined Ferrari he debuted with a masterfull win as well... if anything, Massa showed he has pace, this is the first race for him in a long time... he just needs to keep cool and focus.. the battle will be good

one thing's for sure thou, Ferrari is not missing Kimi at all
Well, I gues everyhing panned out as expected. Alonso and Ferrari proving to be competetive and reliable. Also, seems that the same unreliability problems from last year at Red Bull have been brought foward to plague Vettal again this this year.

Schumacher did the best he could, considering the long break. Praise to Massa, Hamilton and Rosberg. Button was right where I expected him to be ... now where.

Well done to new team Lotus.

Sadly no such alcholade for the FIA once again it seems they have screwed up any real pleasure or excitement both for the drivers and the spectataors. The Lack of re-fueling is a mistake, we may as well ban tire changes, what were they thinking. The new Pit lane rule is pathetic. And the skinny front tires on these cars are not helping in any shape or form appart from making over-taking even more impossible.

So, all in all we can pe-pare our selves for a year off motor way driving for a couple of ours every two weeks ..... maybe they can get " The little Chef ' out there ...... God!!

why did Massa need to save fuel? I thought the tank should last the whole race like Alonso's did?

Massa said his car was over heating so used more fuel, I dont really understand that.

Vettel had an engine problem btw so he is already one engine down.
My verdict on the race:
Great to see the tactical 'sprint' section of the race in the opening 20 laps, but the rest of it was mind-numbingly dull and boring. A true own-goal for F1 today, everyone fights for the first third of the race and then settles back to conserve their degrading cars. Fantastic result for Ferrari, and deservedly so IMHO. They were the best prepared team for the 2010 season. Worrying that McLaren and Mercedes seem so far back, though.

My verdict on the circuit:
Bring back the old Bahrain! I couldn't believe the Crown Prince's comments pre-race that he had pushed for the new section because he believed the circuit "needed more character" ... was he watching the same circuit as we were!? It's killed the high-speed character of the circuit.

My verdict on the new rules:
Well-meaning but counter-productive, as is so often the case. F1 should be a sprint, not a marathon.

The exhaust isn't part of the engine.

i'm still doubting about the advantage of the red bulls. at the beginning of the race i don't know if alonso was giving the best out of him or if he was just staying 3-4 secs behind on purpose and keeping an eye on Vettel.

anyway Vettel's a sure contender for the world title.

First, I can't believe you are praising Hamilton, given some of your earlier comments and second Button was right behind your man Schuey (who has had a lot of time to get rid of his rustiness) and would surely have gone away if he could get past, which no-one else could.
..because it's schumi ahead , thats why !: P
Ah yes - of course!

Firstly it's a sport regardless of your personal feelings ..... if you are a man you give credit where it's due. Hamilton did well .... doesn't mean that I will inviting him over for dinner. Second you telling me that a reigning world Champion was just behind an ex world Champion who has been out of sport since 2006, does nothing for Buttons credibility especially when his compatriot in the same car was a city block ahead ...... do you believe now?.

The problem is not with the exhaust its an engine problem, its been reported on Autosport.
But Autosport isn't exactly a reliable source though :P
And we heard before the end of the BBC's race coverage that the team and Vettel suspected an exhaust failure.

Yes but after looking at the car they have said its the engine.

Sorry old chum - your argument is spurious. There was no overtaking virtually evry car finished where it was on the grid. Your man is a 7 times champion who has told us all he's going to win an 8th. There is very little to suggest in the laptimes that Button would'nt have matched Hamilton just the cars can't overtake. I will grant you Button is no good at quali but the old veteran needs to sharpen up in this area.
This is going to be the greatest season ever - just as next year always has been DC's year.

Excitement my a*s. Even truck racing looks faster. It says a lot when the only exciting part is a broken exhaust.

The article you referenced even said there's nothing wrong with the engine. It was (apparently) just a dodgy spark plug... struggling to understand the horrible noises myself, but that's what it says.
