Quite an amazing comeback, and another reason why 2010 is shaping up to be one of the best seasons in years!

Schumacher sets very high standards, so I doubt he'd do this if he had any doubts about his fitness or ability, so obviously he reckons he still has it. Should be cool to see how F1's young guns stack up against him.

Great that he returns (even if I've been and still am a bit sceptical about it), if he does well, we could have a cracking season!

Why exactly? Is Alonso a traitor for leaving Renault? Was Raikkonen a traitor for leaving McLaren? Was Senna a traitor for leaving McLaren?

Schumacher wants to race, Ferrari hasn't got any seats left -> Schumacher goes to another team.

Overjoyed. Never thought it could be. For the last three years or so, since he left, I have just been going through the motions of following this sport but now I feel rejuvenated. I sooooo, agree with you Ed, we are in store for a really fantastic season, ...... the most unpredictable too, I'd wager.

The bloke brought Ferrari more success than you could ever have dreamed of. Never before had Ferrari had any prolonged period of success - he was one of the 'dream team' to provide it.

He's going back to his roots - it was Mercedes who provided the launchpad in sports cars and then paid for his break in F1. They've called in the debt, and Schumacher's still hungry.

He's also going back to the man he fought alongside in F1 - Ross Brawn. The Ferrari that we have now is not the same Ferrari that Schumacher left. Seems he is being pretty loyal to Ross, really.

He's German and he's now driving for a German team. How's that being a traitor?
He's representing his country and hopefully repaying a debt of gratitude to the very company that gave him a chance to become what he is today.
It's the final chapter in an amazing career, be happy for the guy and the sport.;-)

Ignore that... seems to me trying to provoke a reaction.

But this is fantastic... I think Schumacher fans, and his critics alike will be excited about this. This is possibly the first time since the early 90's when a young and very spotty Schumacher put his name on the wall amongst Senna, Mansell and Prost that he'll go up against several worthy opponents.

We have reason to hope that Alonso with have a Ferrari capable of winning races, that Vettel will a have a Red Bull capable of winning races, that Hamilton will have a McLaren capable of winning races and that Schumcaher will have a Merc capable of winning races.

So already we have 4 very reasonable likely contenders for the championship. Maybe even 6 if Webber can hang on to Vettel's coattails.. and if Button can come close to holding a candle to Hamiton.

I just hope these cars are competitive, and that one doesn't streak ahead of the rest.
