Yeah, to be honest, my OCD was getting very stressed out about the odd points distribution earlier, too!

Converted into "old money", the new points system is the exact equivalent of:

1st = 10
2nd = 7.2
3rd = 6
4th = 4.8
5th = 4
6th = 3.2
7th = 2.4
8th = 1.6
9th = 0.8
1oth =0.4

Which is really not very different from what we had before. It's slightly worse for 2md place, slightly better for places 6 - 8, and there's a recognition of 9th and 10th. But it isn't very radical.
