More Sauber news, it looks like entry could be granted tomorrow!

[en.f1-live.com]

He looks like picking up where he left off, with the strong Ferrari partnership, naming the chassis the C29, a mix of drivers with experience and youth (at least based on the names listed in the article), and the even with the possibility of calling the team Sauber-Petronas again! It will be great to see them back!

Awesome.
OT I know, but it looks like the #27 will be back in F1 too, for the first time since Adelaide 1995. :D

Ah, how fantastic it would be if the number 27 adorned a Ferrari-powered Sauber. :)

All we need is for Alesi to make a stunning comeback, though I'd settle for Villeneuve to make a shock Sauber return in the #27 Gilles sort of adorned. :P

i don't think that relation ended very good, Villeneuve-Sauber.. but who knows?

*off topic*, Massa the former Sauber driver just won a Kart race in brazil, and finished 3rd yesterday, and Shumi won the championship after winning yesterday and finishing 2nd today........ it seems they haven't lost any of their speed eh?, i mean they beat Liuzzi in goKarts!

I don't think it ended that badly actually. The team had of course become BMW by the time they dumped Jacques, and I think it was BMW's decision rather than Peter Sauber's. The relationship didn't start very well, with all the rumours in early 2005 that Jacques would be replaced, but as the season went on JV and Peter Sauber rubbed the rough edges off of one another as his driving improved, and by the end of that season they were getting on quite well IIRC.

Sorry to spoil the party, but F1-Live is now reporting that Stefan F1 is in the running to buy Toyota's slot to save them the £150M fine - and that Sauber may therefore be missed off the FIA's entrant list when it's published.

I really hope this doesn't happen, Stefan F1 has all the hallmarks of the next Mastercard-Lola..

F1-live is not that reliable anymore, they made some mistakes during the 2009 season.. i rather wait this next few days before anything...

Formula1.com has published the official entry list for the 2010 season, and Sauber are not included on it. So they don't have their space yet. All it says is that "an announcement is expected within the next few days" ...

Even if Toyota sell to Stefan to prevent a big fine, hopefully the FIA still see reason and give Sauber the slot.

Sauber wants to use Ferrari engines and this is enough big reason for FIA to keep them away and choose one more cosworth team instead.. FIA could also allow one more team, but Williams is against it (like always about everything).

Kimi, so, Massa Fernando Sebastian is faster than you. Can you confirm you understood that message?

I was hoping that a team entering using my name would suck a little less.

They're giving the slot to Sauber anyway since the Qadbak investment failed. But it may seem privateer but it's going to become like Spyker and all the others in a few years. Sauber wants own only a part of it and move off the pit stand 3-4yrs down the line

Peter Sauber will begin looking for investors and new management when - and if - his Hinwil-based team is given the green light to contest the 2010 championship.

That doesn't sound particularly conclusive to me.

It is now. They've been given Toyota's spot. :)

It was the only logical decision, especially considering the 'unusual' entry that Stefan was presenting, but that isn't always what happens in F1 - so its great to see this logic prevail, and I can't wait to see Sauber on the grid again in 2010!

Brilliant stuff! Good to see Sauber back, and the right man running the show! I think despite all the recent problems they will prove to provide a very quick car. BMW showed nice promise towards the seasons end and I think they could carry that through. I kinda hoped Mario would stick around but I guess he is BMW and his responsiblities are far greater at BMW than would have been at Sauber.

26 cars on the grid though! As it nears I get more and more confident all teams will make it. Im still highly concerned about USF1 but then isnt the cost of the season cheaper than the cost of withdrawal at this stage considering they are on the entry list (and I persume signed the concorde), so given that we should still see them.

I think with the team now secured for next year what does Nick Heidfeld do? Chances are the car is going to be alot better than last years.. does Nick stick with the team or does he really stand a chance at gettign that Mercedes seat????
