If what is written there is true, then it's a bad day for F1. I can't believe Kimi will not have a ride for next year O_O

Sounds good. Lewis and Jenson at McLaren vs Nico and Nick at Mercedes. Or maybe not, but would be nice.. ;)

Kimi, so, Massa Fernando Sebastian is faster than you. Can you confirm you understood that message?

A good move by Ross to secure the competitiveness and ultimate longevity of his team. Things weren't going to work out long term with him continuing as a private owner.

Hopefully Kimi will still be up for a good seat next year in spite of this.

i dont think Nick will drive for brawn or mclaren. he's a bag of poop, hasnt acheived much in f1. Mclaren chose kimi over him before, dont see why it would be any different this time

Mercedes get the all German lineup, Rosberg would be number 1, Heidfeld a relaible points scorer without troubling his better team mate, after what Mercedes and Mclaren went through with Alonso, can you blame them?

Haug is an admirer of Heidfeld, so the best bet is that he'll be sat alongside Nico.

Not exactly out of the blue, but it had been very quiet on this whole affair for a while.

so mercedes would pick over heidfeld over kimi because of the country he was born in, why would mclaren pick jenson over kimi?

The idea of an all British line up would be tempting for McLaren, also Button would come far cheaper than Kimi.

Although having said that, would Merc be able to "persuade" McLaren to take on Heidfeld?

Gotta love Mclarens spin on it

McLaren and Mercedes-Benz are delighted to announce a realigned long-term strategic alliance.

As a result, the McLaren Group will become a fully independent stand-alone corporate entity.

McLaren will continue to be known as Vodafone McLaren Mercedes, its distinctive silver-with-red livery will remain unchanged, and Mercedes-Benz will continue as both an engine supplier and a sponsor.

Ron Dennis (Executive Chairman, McLaren Automotive; Founding Shareholder, McLaren Group) said:

“This is a win-win situation, for both McLaren and Daimler.

“I’ve often stated that it’s my belief that, in order to survive and thrive in 21st-century Formula 1, a team must become much more than merely a team. That being the case, in order to develop and sustain the revenue streams required to compete and win Grands Prix and World Championships, companies that run Formula 1 teams must broaden the scope of their commercial activities.

“Nonetheless, all of our partners will of course continue to play a crucial role in our Formula 1 programme. For that reason, and because the engines they produce are very competitive, we’re delighted that Mercedes-Benz has committed to continue not only as an engine supplier but also as a partner of ours until 2015 – and perhaps thereafter.

“The next few years will be a very exciting time for McLaren, during which period we intend to become an ever-stronger technological and economic force. Formula 1 will always be a core activity, for sound business reasons as well as for historical sporting reasons: to be clear, our Formula 1 business has traditionally enjoyed great financial security, largely as a consequence of the longevity of our contracts with our partners, many of which have exceeded 15 years of continuous involvement with McLaren. Indeed, two of our partners have been with us for more than 25 years.

“We’re risk-averse by design. Over the past two years we’ve analysed in great detail the challenge of entering the high-performance production sports car market. In the MP4-12C, which will be introduced to market in 2011, we have a car that has inherited the genes of the iconic McLaren F1 of 1994 and has already been the subject of much global media acclaim. It is proposed that it will be produced in a new state-of-the-art production facility adjacent to the existing award-winning McLaren Technology Centre at Woking [Surrey, UK].”

lol, the reason they're making the MP4/12C at the tech centre is that the factory they're building to make it is has been delayed and won't be ready on time for them to make the cars for delivery in 2011.

Back OT (ish) I think it'd be an interesting line up at macca. On one hand you have Lewis 'hang the tail out and drive it like you stole it' Hamilton, and on the other you have Jenson 'Mr silky smooth' Button. It'd be fascinating to see if Macca can build a car to suit these two different styles

Plus, isn't Brawn now the most successful team ever? Championships won: 100%

I think Button could still be a very outside chance to go to Renault. He has been there before, and having the #1 on the car might attract some more sponsors, as well as some funding from Renault to pay his salary.

Also, if Button does leave Mercedes, that probably means they will be sent down the pitlane, just like when Brawn took over Honda.

yeh sure, from haug himself

We want to have the best ones and we definitely do not want to have the pure German team - it's an international Silver Arrows team and we want to have the best drivers in the car.

they have Nico. Nick...hmmm

I don't know why Glock hasn't been more closely linked with Brawn. Apart from being German, he is also quite fast, and has arguably shown as much promise as Rosberg has. Also, he has consistently shown he is great at doing 1-stoppers with heavy fuel loads, which could be a good skill to have in 2010.

wouldn't it be ironic if mercedes convinced mclaren to sign heidfeld, and then got kimi for themselves, which would leave button like hill after 1996 with only a drive in a lower team.

It would certainly be quite ironic, and Button would only have himself to blame really.

However, Renault or Sauber could still pick him up, and I think both of those teams will be stronger than Arrows 1997.

if renault exist in 2010, and if they do, they will probably only at a small budget
