Just thought I'd start this thread for posting our reactions, since we'd started posting them in the "Your ideal FIA President" thread and I hardly think he is for most of us.
Credit to Dave for posting the news originally.

So yeah, Todt has won it.

It was a landslide :(

What a joke. I actually the future of F1 was looking great this morning, hoping Todt wouldnt have to show his face at race weekends.

I think through his career he has proven to everybody the success

Funny thing is with Todt he wont be running it will he, Mosley will be pulling his strings in the background. Great (N).

Wasn't Max to leave the FIA completely? If so, he can hardly pull the strings in the background.

In theory, yes, you're right, but in practice, it could well be a different story. Moseley and Bernie made NO secret that they wanted Todt to win, Moseley even said Todt would be a "continuation" of his (Moseley's) work. So how much of Todt's ACTUAL influence and ideas as (opposed to Moseley's) makes it through is questionable.

I thought the whole issue of Mosley campaigning for Todt was illegal and that it would somehow play to Ari's advantage. How wrong was I in believing that an entity run by Max Mosley would punish its president.

And what exactly would be Max's motivation to be doing that?

Um, to stay in control? That was a bit of a silly question. Max has been heavily involved in Todts campaign, and of course as we know, his threatening letters to organisations which supported Ari were made public. To suggest Max will not have any say in Todts reign as FIA President given how the build up went is simply naive.
