honestly?

I've always thought someone like Alexander Wurz would be good, subjective views with both knowledge on the sport and on safety, and who actually knows and respects what the fans want.

He's too nice tho :p

I couldnt imagine him dishing out a $100mil fine to a team lol!

edit - it was true that Mosleys style of rule did scare people nad thats not a bad thing.

Though what he did was scare people to speak the truth, which was bad. But just to strike a little fear has got to be a good thing imo!!!

This is a great idea for a thread. :)

However, the temptation to not take it seriously is alas too great...!

My vote would go to Derren Brown. Nobody would ever disagree with his rulings, because nobody ever could. And, he used to barely-transparent cover-ups for dodgy tricks, so he should feel right at home in the FIA headquarters.

Aside from him, surely Boris Johnson deserves a shot at it. He's dangerously under-qualified and spectacularly incompetent, but it'd be a laugh, wouldn't it?

As Clarkson once said - the idea of Boris is the opposite of other MPs. Most appear competent, but are incompetent. Boris appears incompetent, but somehow is cometent.

As good and competent Brundel may be as a commentator he's not the only ex F1 driver who now works as a commentator out there. He'd only represent the viewers of ITV/BBC or whatever F1 is on there in the UK. Ovewr here in Germany we have Christian Danner and I daresay he's every bit as comnpetent as Brundle is.

Personally I wish it would be Ari but I fear it will be Todt.

Right with you there Vader ;)

I'd love Ari to get a fair shot at it but from what I've been reading lately it's Jean Todt's job before the election takes place and all because he's prepared to be an FIA (Current board) puppet. A sad day for World Motor Sport (let's not lose sight of the fact that this does not just effect F1) if this is the case :(

The same way normal elections take place, should this election seeing as though it effects all motorists to an extent have a say? should we be allowed to vote?

seeing as though it effects all motorists to an extent

That'd be to a very very very very very minimal extent. I can't see how a FIA president would effect me.

No. Letting the internet vote on things is a bad idea (or depending on the situation, a great idea). It is why the Spice Girls got the reunion gig voted as Iraq. It's why Rick Astley won an MTV award.

Btw when will we get the results?

Kimi, so, Massa Fernando Sebastian is faster than you. Can you confirm you understood that message?

The elections will be taking place today, so I'd imagine we'll know the results within the next day or two.

It isn't like there are millions of votes to count, it should be known today.

Hope so. Fingers crossed for Ari. I'm bracing myself for the unpleasant news if Max 1b gets voted in.

Yep. Crap, but so predictable I guess.
Now we get 4 more years of Max dictating by proxy. Joy.

If this means that Mosely still has a significant input on the govering of Formula One then this is a very sad day indeed. Not just for the sport but for the overall image that the FIA is giving out. Reminds me of the whole Medvedev/Putin thing regarding Russia. Yes, Medvedev is the front man, but we all know that Putin is still pulling all the strings.
