There is an element of luck in any championship win.

If 2007 was his only competitive year, I could see your point, but the fact he also proved to be very close to the championship in both 2003 and 2005 shows that while he has underperformed at times (e.g. 2008), he is not overrated as a whole i don't think.

Well everybody saw this coming. Kimi back to McLaren I hope :D But what if he won't go to McLaren, where would he go? I can't see another spot that might suit him. Maybe Brawn, if Barrichello leaves. But other than that, I can't come up with anything.

well the car in 2008 was also very good if you see massa went for the championship till last gp so it couldn't have been the car in 2008. And yes luck is needed if you see what massa had in 2008, he missed the luck but he for sure showed skill in 2008.

get a grip on yourself, everybody has right to his opinion and to express it here and mine isn't changed for years and kimi didn't do anything to make it change either

haha good one :p next year we really will see how good Alonso is against Felipe, I think some of you may get suprise even Alonso himself ;p just hope that Felipe will be as good as he was before the accident.Kimi will finally get the car that will suit perfectly for his style :p

if he for some reason doesnt end up in McLaren he will retire from F1.

Everybody has a right to express his opinion. But everybody who does so, is obliged to provide some decent arguments to back it up. You failed to do so.

Kicking Kimi out a year early has nothing to do with skills. It's all about bussiness.btw this is what Alonso just said:

-we did a contract with Ferrari last summer about driving there from the 2011 onwards but situation did change in last few days and we decided to make it year earlier.

so all the rumours during year about Alonso's agreement for next year was BS and he only did a contract about next year just few days ago.

If he is good enough and battles for every race/championship they wouldn't drop him but keep him like hell and give him a contract for another few years. But he has shown nothing and got one year lucky that mclaren screwed up big time.

With that Silence that Whitmarsh had on Sunday purely gave it away. However, with Button in negotiations on his contract for next year and him wanting a higher salary, anyone think Kimi could be off to Brawn?

How about the fact that the other teams are probably all offering a contract to Kimi? How about the fact that the people who do that are experts on judging drivers abilities? I am looking forward to seeing Alonso fight Massa and Kimi and Lewis in the same team.

The Kimi Lewis battle I want to see the most tbh.

Massa I think will still not be 100% but who knows.

4 tops drivers in 2 teams sounds great to me.

Winning a Championship isn't showing nothing. He was good in 2007, not lucky. He had a points deficit of 25 points after the French GP, and to haul that back in takes some doing, whether your title rivals screw up or not. And in the Brazilian GP, he did benefit from team strategy, but he couldn't have benefitted from that if he hadn't put himself in a position to by catching up in the title race.
So no, he didn't get lucky.

like said each has his own opinion, but if massa gives him the win in brazil and takes an extra pitstop in fuji to GIVE kimi more points then i don't call that winning a championship by skill but luck due the fact massa is a good teamplayer and the mclaren boys had a too big ego at that moment.

Massa didn't do a extra pitstop at Fuji it was a normal stop done because he had not enough fuel to finnish the race, jees watch the race again if needed.Also other titles have had team support from Schumacher and Häkkinen to Alonso so there is nothing wrong in that.Kimi scored 78 points in last 10 races so he did deserve the title more than others!
