Glock will not be at Toyota in 2010

Singapore GP third-placed man Timo Glock has been told that his option for 2010 will not be taken up by the Toyota team.

Glock today announced that he was a free agent for the upcoming season, despite his heroics yesterday.

“Now I have to look around,” said the German. “I have several possibilities and I am very confident. Let’s see what happens this week.”

Glock’s future could well lie with one of the new teams, as he has repeatedly impressed this season. A lack of consistency and inability comfortably to outperform the serially mediocre Jarno Trulli are his main weaknesses, however.

Toyota’s refusal to announce their two current drivers are staying on could mean one of two things: one, as the strongest sign yet that they will leave the sport; or two, that they have finally decided to hire drivers that will bring them results.

Many commentators consider that the former is more likely, citing the Williams team’s search for a new engine next year.

wtf

i hope the quote is at least genuine but i'm not betting on it

ok, so it may be true

Toyota still has to get their 2010 budget approved so they'll have to wait on deciding drivers

as for Glock, he really is in a hard place, but luckily there seems to be a lot of movement in the "lesser" teams

A German driver in a Mercedes powered Brawn? Why not add his name to the list...

Could the timing be any worse?

"A lack of consistency and inability comfortably to outperform the serially mediocre Jarno Trulli are his main weaknesses, however."

How can you be deemed inconsistent when the car you're driving is the least consistent thing moving in F1? It changes from 1 session to the next. Small wonder both drivers are completely at sea.

GP Update says differently.
"We haven't closed the door on Timo and he hasn't closed the door on us," a Toyota spokesperson commented. "He remains a possibility for 2010, as does Jarno (Trulli)."

Personally, I've a lot of time for Glock. He's a tough racer. His weakness seems to be qualifying though, Trulli has generally pwned him in this and pwned him quite badly, only for the order of the Toyotas to switch during the race.

I think Toyota are just trying to give their drivers some motivation, and so far it seems to have worked. I wouldn't be surprised if Timo or Jarno were on the podium again before the end of the year.

I wouldn't be surprised if they offered him something, but if Kimi has an offer from McLaren on the table, which it seems he does, he would be stupid not to take it.

I can't see Timo anywhere near on the top teams for nextyear. I highly doubt he will stay on toyota for another season. or williams?;)

I like Timo, good racer, aggressive and really goes for it. If anything i would think Trulli would be out of a job, i mean what has the mobile chicane done in the last year?

If Glock did leave then to BMW? Any of the new teams would snap him up if noone else wanted him am sure

Micky-cannonball, you must be the best racing driver in the World. Everyone else pales before your obvious talents.

I've read three threads in quick succession this morning, and in every single one you are telling us how poor drivers are, with no justification whatsoever for your views. I can only therefore assume that yo have personal experience of beating them which you are not sharing with us.

Please provide justification for your points in future, because it's getting pretty boring putting up with your verbal diahorrhea on this forum.

Thanks,

The Mods.

Well, that's his point! If you're going to bash drivers, at least explain how you've come to the conclusion.

If Glocks out of Toyota id be very supprised! I think the car has been too difficult to judge to give a real idea on his performances.

The latest padock news is that Toyota might not be on the F1 grid at all, so it's not necessarily Glock failing to keep his drive, but possibly Glock's chances of keeping his drive going up in smoke when the team pulls out.

They can go if they life, so long as we get at least 24 cars next year I'll be happy...

Timo is a very underrated driver IMO. He's very solid, has been more consistent than his results suggest, and has shown some spectacular form whenever the car has let him. I rate him highly.
I hope he does at the very least stay in F1 next season, and hopefully gets into one of the better teams, if him and Toyota do part company.
