T-Cam Quality

Has anyone else noticed the significant increase in quality this weekend of the Brawn and McLaren t-cams?

Usually very grainy and desaturated but now starting to display a lot more colour and an overall more vivid image.

Yes, they have been gradually increasing the amount of these improved t-cams over the last few rounds.

Hopefully this is part of a move to HD broadcasting in F1 in 2010.

It's great, and I hope we do get HD F1 next year. It makes no sense that I can watch literally every other motorsport event in HD, yet not F1.

Sutil had a sponsor on his hat. Something onboards. I was wondering what that was...

Nice to see more nad more teams getting these better cams. Look awesome!

The Mclarens especially have been using these non-HD, higher quality T-cams for a few months now.
It seems the Brawns have followed suit. Hopefully the FOM have them fitted on all cars asap.

Yup. Just in time for me to get an HDTV since mine is on it's dying bed.

iirc, both McLarens, both Brawns, both Ferraris, both RBRs (Vetel had two in Valencia I think) and Alonso have HD-cams on their cars. So that's almost half of the field, not bad so far. But yeh, the regular cameras do look sh|t because they actually are 4:3 cams cropped at the top to get a 16:9 aspect ratio. iirc, they record at 544x576 px, so they need to cut 136 pixels, and then resize to at least 720x576, which is 1.7647 times the height of the 408x576 px original frame. Unless I'm mistaken, I think the new HD cams record in 720i50, so look much better on TV than those cropped-then-upscaled cameras

Yes, Vettel had two of these better cameras at Spa as well.

I think Buemi also had a high quality T-Cam, but we only got a few seconds of him passing Fisi so i can't quite remember.
