Exactly, and the fact that there was only 1 F1 race winner (Panis) out of ~18 F1 drivers in the race this year, shows that it is a very different skill.

This people are not really what we called a mediocore in f1. They're just people who have lost their edge or doesnt have any edge at all. Anyways, Looking forward on Monza gp, a moment of truth for ferrari-alonso saga.

Bourdais is going to the SuperLeague Formula. So that's the Bourdais rumours over then.

Well, Badoer effectively screwed his own career, during Ferrari's dominance a few years ago, he had lots of offers for drives from mid-field teams, but turned them down because he would only drive for a top team. So now he's paying for his arrogance.

iirc Ferrari also gave badoer the drive as a small gesture for his commitment and hardwork for the team over the years?

If he took a plunge and went with another team he probably wouldnt have got this oppurtunity, even though he has driven poorly, atleast he has driven for ferrari in f1, how many people can say that.

Most F1 drivers until the 90s. ;)

Thats a difficult one.

We've seen alot of drivers come and go in mid-field teams. Drivers with talent.

Klien for example, he's BMW's 3rd driver but tbh its very easy to forget he's even there!

At the time Luca was pretty much driving a Ferrari weekly. He had no pressures, and his job was just for fun pretty much. I can understand his decision to stay.

Badoer is the only driver in Ferrari's history to quali last on the grid with no problems. He has done that in 2 races now, not a record to be proud of.

While it is something to be able to say you raced a Ferrari F1, it's hardly that great to be able to say you put in the most embarrassing performance in memory in that car. More than I'll ever manage I suppose...

Still though, he's confident of a points finish at Monza. :)

Not exactly his fault, if testing wasnt banned than he would have driven the car more this season and been used to it abit more. If he was racing GP2 or another single seater series this year like J Algs then maybe he wouldnt be last.

Yes, his main problem wasn't not joining another midfield team, but not racing in other series - whether it be A1GP, Le Mans series, GP2 etc.

Apparently there is a rule that stopped him racing in GP2, some limit on the amount of F1 starts you can have been in

Races: 163 - Wins: 23 - Pole Positions: 24 - Fastest Laps: 22
Season 9: Constructors' Champions

tbh even if he could have raced in gp2 i doubt he would, he's 38 and its mostly young firey racers there ready to step "up" to F1. I think atleast something like lemans or superleague would have been suitable for him.

He's also the only one to have not had the chance to do any running in anger before hand, so it's not entirely fair to tarnish him with that brush. The field is also split by around 1.5 seconds at the moment (even on the longest tracks), while up until 1996 the fields were separated by up to double figures.

Qualifying last wasn't unexpected, it was the manner in which he qualified last, with no commitment, general lack of sense (Spa) and still failing.

In the race he was better at Spa than Valencia though.
