oh dear.

that said, good of Peter Sauber to think logically, if all else fails, at least it keeps it alive in some form, probably hoping for better to come along and take it further.

Being a 2nd driver at that team would be probably even worse than Renault ;)

Well, it's only a consideration, hopefully Peter Sauber finds a better buyer for the team.

Indeed, one of the original 2010 applicants like Epsilon Euskadi, Lola or Prodrive would be a much better option. Some of those teams would really be helped by having Peter Sauber around as well.

Can't you just see Nelson buying the team to keep his son in F1 (while getting tremendous marketing and status!) hoping to be able to offload him to another team the next year so he can get better drivers and thus keep the team an attractive opportunity for sponsors? ;)

Piquet Snr has a healthy bank balance and business portfolio I believe. He'd for sure have little trouble finding sponsors, even his own?

I'd put better bet on Prodrive chasing it, BMW's wind tunnel is meant to be excellent.

All of those are really good options, I think David Richards and Peter Sauber would make a really good combination.

Hopefully Sauber can put together a better arrangement than having on board a guy who wants to buy the team just so he can guarantee a seat for his kid.

It is attractive, but with the wind-tunnel restrictions it not as attractive as it once was. I reckon its too far out for Prodrive.

Once again Nelson Piquet jr. shows how daddy's boy he is...

Prodrive has deals with McLaren-Mercedes in place. According to Richards their F1-entrance didn't work out because they didn't want to switch to Cosworth. I highly doubt they would buy into a former BMW-led team.

Well in GP2 2006 Lewis drove for ART GP

Piquet drove for Piquet Sports...

Piquet Jnr has had teams set up for him in almost every series he has raced in

it looks like Sauber's chances of reviving his team are over. He couldn't reach a deal with BMW, and now they have missed the deadline for the Concorde Agreement, which would have secured a major part of their funds. He called it "the bitterest day in my 40-year career in motor sport"

This will only increase the chances of another buyer coming in, but hopefully it is Prodrive (even despite their Mercedes links) or Epsilon Euskadi rather than Piquet Sports.

If they've missed the deadline for Concorde then they'll be hard-pushed to find a serious buyer. :( Sad times.

Peter Sauber's been left a real bum deal by BMW. Not a proud day for the German marque.

Yeah :( He did a very good job of keeping the team on the grid with a budget that was slightly fatter than shoestring, and wouldn't have done too badly given the budget capping. Still hope SOMETHING works out there, and we'll maybe see him back come 2011.
