Dunno about best ever, but he's certainly the most complete and probably best all-round driver currently in F1.

Yeah well... ferrari just give him a gift to "drive" one of their f60 for valencia.. and whilst flavio;s gift was to grant him to drive for forza-ferrari!

When he was winning his two titles I wasn't too fussed on him, especially after his "cruise and collect" battle with Kimi. Yeah I knew he was good but I didn't think he was up there with the best. Since his failed move to McLaren though I've gained a massive respect for Fernando over the last few years. Some of his performances have been absolutely excellent and pulling off those back to back wins last year was a pleasure to watch. I can safely say he is definitely up there with the best, lol, he just could do with a winning car before he passes his prime.

Alonso is the only driver on the grid currently who can make average cars work and eek out every last bit of performance, something a lot of great drivers have shared in the past. The others on the grid seem to complain about the tiniest little shortcomings of a car and don't deliver until it's very competitive, some not even then...
I wasn't a fan of Alonso back in 05/06, but now think he's the best driver currently on the grid.
