I wouldn't mind this happening. Bourdais has been pretty disappointing this year, and i would love to see some of the names mentioned in the article get a chance to show their potential, in particular Pantano and Senna.

I think they should have chosen Sato in the first place, but of course its easy to say that now.

It's strange. Bourdais looked pretty promising at times last year. Maybe the so-called lack of talent in Champ Cars flattered him, or he just isn't suited to the Toro Rosso in driving style?

But tbh, I wouldn't miss him too much. He's got a nice helmet and he can be outspoken, but that's about it tbh! As SchueyFan said, I would like to see some new talent get the seat. Include Sato in that, as well. Here's hoping he can get some sort of F1 seat next year :) Campos, maybe?

While I don't think he's been as bad as has been made out, he's still at best level with a rookie who most weren't expecting that much from.

He deserved a shot at a 2nd season, but he's done nothing with it. Still, he's better than Piquet, so...

so.... put Piquet in the STR and see if he performs better with the Frenchie driving for the Frenchie team. If Piquet still sucks then kick him out. If Frenchie Seb doesn't finish at least 5 spots behind Alonso, kick him out.

You should work on some rumour column of a newspaper. :P

I just meant how the hell has a distinctly average driver got his seat under scrutiny, while a distinctly @#$%&, and dare I say dangerous driver gets to carry on regardless.

Actually yeah, can we put Piquet and Bourdais together? See which one of them sucks the most! ;) I had time for Bourdais before, but he's fast running out of it in F1

@Gav: :P

Loppernicus, that's a great idea! But who'd be crazy enough to have both racing together? Force India already has Sutil and Fisichella ;). I still think he's being kept because Flávio knows he doesn't get the same support as Fernandito de Astúrias and really stepped up his game compared to last year (which can be taken both ways, 1- impossible to crash more ;) 2- learning his way in a difficult F1 car in the real F1 calendar), so he's a averagely decent driver who plays perfect support role to Alonso!

Anyway, Piquet's life is great as I see on Twitter, thanks to Bruno :P. The guy has a decent looking simulator hooked up to either PS3 or XBox 360 playing the latest games, and when not having fun there he's still driving in F1! Bastard :P.

Bruno talks to Rubens and Nelson frequently on Twitter. And He also wants Felipe Massa on twitter ;)

Another bad performance from Bourdais today then, wonder what news Toro Rosso will bring in the course of next week.

Mind you, if Bourdais gets replaced, that'd be the first driver change during the season since Brazil 2007, when Nakajima took over from Wurz. Quite a long time I think, especially compared to the 90s and 2001 was quite a chaotic season in that respect as well.

yes, last season was the least amount of drivers used in a season in the history of F1!

it would be quite ironic if he is dropped after Nurburgring, considering Scott Speed was dropped from Toro Rosso as well after the last Nurburgring race in 2007.

yes, it definitely looks like it!

i can't see him going back to IndyCar, so maybe he will do the Le Mans series full time, or even DTM

Sad in a way - someone should have picked him up years ago, when he won F3000, before he went to America. I believe that he had a falling out with Briatore at the time?

It did look like a farewell from Bourdais today, that Alguersuari kid is apparently ready to step up. Surely that's a bit of a risk having two rookies in the team? Loeb has expressed an interest also, which would be interesting.

I'm struggling to understand any decision to place Alguersuari in the car mid-season. He's still relatively inexperienced in the lower formulae, and they're going to drop him onto an F1 grid with possibly only straight-line testing being conducted. Can they use the young driver testing exception to give him some miles? Is that exception even valid at this point of the season?

It could destroy the kid before he's even started.

2010, fair enough - he'd be able to do a load of winter testing to help him get up to speed of driving one of these...

If they do it, it'll be one hell of a risk.

they can allow him to test. But it's limited. So hes got the choice of jump in mid season, or do 2 days testing then sit and do nothing.
