i didn't notice that.

if i remember rightly wasn't one of Max's big ideas about trying to branch this sort of concept out.

the idea was the FIA would have a single engine template for all it's series. You'd then tune, detune, add turbos etc that engine depending on the specific series?

that way the engine manufacturers would simply build a racing engine. teams in any FIA championship would be able to buy which ever manufacturers engine they wanted.

its one of those things that sounds interesting on paper but how well it would work in reality i'm not sure.

i guess we'll have to see if the WTCC WRC plan has desired effect.

Wow, quite a few names being bandied about here!

I doubt Prost, apparently one of the lesser reasons why he didn't make such a great team boss was that he wasn't really a people person and not much of a leader. Berger might do well though, he seems to stay out of the limelight and just go about his business.

Stoddy? FIA boss? Heck, why not? He seems to have the charisma to work with all those overinflated egos up and down pit lane. Also he's a business man too, so negotiations and commercial issues will not be foreign to him.

Brilliant. His experience in multiple major motorsports could aid him quite a bit in running the world body. From his time at Honda, he showed that he's capable of getting things done.

>Actually no wait...Eddie Jordan for President!!!

I wouldn't want EJ though, From 2000 onwards when his team started to slide down the order, you could almost see his demeanour changing quite a bit as time went on. You need someone who can be consistent no matter what the situation.

Here's one for you, what about Tom Wilkinshaw? He's got experience in various motorsports formats around the world. Plus as a former engineering director, he would have a good grasp on technical issues and could introduce rules that provide better racing.

The first one was actually a serious suggestion, although I can't see it happening.

The second one...not so much! :)

Dunno about Walkinshaw. He had success outside of F1, but his time at Arrows was a bit of a disaster. Seemed grumpy and quick to blame anybody else.

After second thought, that is true about Walkinshaw, the last thing would need is someone who's going to endlessly fight with the team bosses, and put us right back where we were a week ago.

I know you were joking about EJ, was still worth a look though. ;)

It's all happening now... Flavio Briatore is to work alongside Bernie Ecclestone :o

In the same article it says that Martin Whitmarsh is hoping that all of the proposals made by FOTA based on the fan survery will now be developed.

I have to say, this looks very promising.
The Flav has always said that the quality/spectacle of the sport from a fan's point of view has mattered to him - hope he puts his money where his mouth is now.

Here we go again... :-(

I can see his point given the situation, but gawd I thought this mess had been sorted out!! Just end it! And make sure it's on a good note like yesterday.

what point?

that he is not a dictator, but if you call him one he has the power to nix the deal (no contradictions here, huh)?

Oh for **** sake, not again.
I know Mosley is prone to making decisions out of sheer stubborn stupidity, but this time I thought even he might see sense over this one. Looks like I overestimated him.

Is there no way the guy can just be booted out of office? Like a vote of no confidence or something? He's just a @#$%& liability.

Apparently he has a lot of support from people who can make that decision, otherwise he would have been long gone by now.

Which is a major part of the problem, of course. It would be interesting to know how far his influence over certain people reaches, and how much corruption/sleaze/whatever is involved there.

Basically the guy is drunk on power and doesn't want to sober up.

I just wish he would realize that he made a deal, has to keep his end of the bargain and shut the crap up. For harmony's sake I'm glad I'm going to be a technical director and not the greedy boss of the friggen sport.

But on a lighter note, I am a bit more optimistic about F1. Maybe in a few odd years we may go back to the glorious v10's. And with the advanced aerodynamics of 08 to top it off, the cars would be the fastest they've ever been. I would dig that.

As for the new president, I have absolutely no idea. No one (save for a few) seems to be very honest these days. Although I really like the idea of a senate instead of a 4th Reich.

Just my two cents for today!

I'd rather completely remove the front wings than go back to the 2008 wings.
