So guess what I just read on his twitter page

I was actually thinking this morning whether he would properly be able to do this or just crash out very early on. Discuss!

He wants to make some new world records: amount of spins in singe race and amount of crashes in singe race. ;)

I feel already sorry for his team mates. ;)

Kimi, so, Massa Fernando Sebastian is faster than you. Can you confirm you understood that message?

On a serious note: I'd say he'll fail even more badly than he has so far in F1. He'd just be garbage.

I'd guess he'd be average, better than Karthikeyan :P

It would have been hard to be worse than Karthikeyan at this Le Mans. :P

Oh dear, someone forgot to tell him Le Mans needs supreme drivers able to consistently deliver in different conditions under pressure..

I was hoping Jacques Villeneuve would be driving this year, but alas no. I never liked JV as an F1 driver, but I wouldn't mind seeing somebody else land the "Triple Crown", in some fashion or another anyways.

The only driver with a realistic chance of landing the Triple Crown at the moment(in its traditional definition) is Juan Pablo, since he's the only driver currently racing who's won the Indy 500 and the Monaco GP.

Having said that you're right to mention Jacques too, since another definition of Triple Crown is F1 Championship, Indy 500 and Le Mans victory(I think).

The two are kind of interchangeable I guess.

The triple Crown is winning Monaco, Indy 500 and Le Mans, isnĀ“t it? JV won only Indy, the nearest driver to made it is... JPM! he won Monaco and Indy, he has to win in Le Mans

Yeah, the whole Monaco GP vs Drivers Champ thing....I guess you could say by right it should only be the Monaco GP that entitles you to the triple crown, since the other two are single events, but meh... ;) Montoya for Le Mans?

Never really thought of that!

Would be awesome. One of the best things about sportscars is that you can still be competitive at an older age. Maybe in a few years :D.

i think Piquet Jnr lacks one of the most important elements needed for a 24hours/endurance race. The ability to stay on track!!

Alot more current F1 drivers should try do it!

edit - the Eurosport coverage was filled with F1 bashing :p

Why is that btw, that older driver's are to old for other classes, but still can be competitive in sportscars? Is it physically less demanding?

About Piquet: He might try it. Jos Verstappen was also famous of his "grindbak" and crash adventures in a lot of f1 races, but he is still without any errors in 2 times Le Mans.

Patrick Dempsey, the actor, ran in Le Mans :P. I don't know many more details but his team was a team setup to gather funds for charity, I think it was based on laps completed or something. Those ideas are very nice :)

Actually you can still do F1 at age 50 easily, most of the drivers want to spend their millions when they turn 38, or have a family or something. But Schumi could have easily continued another 10 years, its bollocks F1 drivers are at their end when they are 38ish. When you have the talent the age doesn't matter.

And about physicall less demanding, maybe over a lap, but a whole 24 hour race is alot tougher then any formula 1 race there is.

The g-forces are still high, still 3g-4g, just perhaps not so much sustained high g. ie T8 at Turkey.

Physically less demanding? Debatable. Sportscars are heavier cars which move around more and have to be driven for longer periods of time. Driving an endurance must mentally be exhausting, maybe more so than an F1 race in fact its probably certainly more mentally demanding.

There are pilots who are 50+ and yet still record high g's. +ve and -ve. Obviously with the addvantage of a g-suit, but then sometimes not.

F1 is over-rated in that respect imo. Any top-level racecar is physically demanding.

I think what does it is that for endurance racing a quick 1 lap pace is useless. And in F1 it is a key part of it. It is accepted that a younger driver will perhaps have more ability to achieve that raw 1-lap pace than a 40year old. However over a stint they could easily be matched.

In Nascar there are quite a few 'oldies' arnt there? Again cars which move around alot more and again mentally more demanding than an F1 race.
