Okay, maybe Legard done a 'little' better this time (sounded less like a horse race today without the constant use of the word 'from';) but....... he had no enthusiasm at all. TBH I think he knows he's in trouble and is now trying to hard to get it right. As I stated on post one MB just doesn't look or sound comfortable at the BBC, whether is Legard dragging him down or just the BBC in general.

yeh naomi was horrid. but it goes pretty much for all the "glamour girls" that are interviewd. either they just blabber about a line they learnt off by heart because the havent got a clue (like in monaco, cant remember her name) or like hamiltons spouse who just kept saying "great to be here" "nobody better out there than lewis to drive this car" blablalba, or scream about some random words like naomi today.....horrible. I mean fair enough michael johnsons comments, or any other celebreties for that matter, werent too interesting either, but at least they try to be authentic

Was anyone else shouting at the TV to make Legard SHUTUP when he was talking over the driver's pre-podium chat?

Yup. It was bloody irritating Martin was quiet trying to listen in what Mark and Jense were on about and this guy kept going on about the history and @#$%&

It's not the BBC's fault that a British driver and British team are currently dominating F1... If you're providing good and detailed coverage of a sport and one guy is dominating it, how can you not focus on him?

I never actually saw the grid walk, but I imagine she made a total idiot of herself and made some hilariously clueless F1-related comments in an attempt to come across as knowledgeable. I still remember her interview with Martin on the grid at Monaco in 1999, when she responded to being asked who'd invited her there with "I came to watch," then was asked who she wanted to win it and said "Schumi's my favourite driver, and I like McLarens!".

I get the feeling Brundle was much happier working with ITV than BBC, my guess is he's being allowed far fewer liberties of style and speech by the corporation..

Are you pointing that out as a good example? The commentary on that clip is sensational in comparison to what we got today. Say what you like about Allen, at least he managed to get excited about what he was watching, rather than repeating the same old crap over and over while trying to think of something else to say. I never really liked Allen, but if Legard is the best (I believe Croft should be given a chance) the BBC can do then I would rather have him back.

Allen and Brundle did seem to work very good together.

Just watching that lap though, how on earth did kimi find over a quarter of a second in the final sector at silverstone. That was just incredible,

I've watched a couple of races through BBC and compared to what we've got here at Brazil, you guys should feel lucky. The guys commenting here are really pathetic. It honestly would be better without them right, and just have the sound of the cars. It's really that bad.

And yeah, that lap from Kimi is just superb. Wish we could see more of that from him again.

EC83, as many people have said...

The BBC focus a lot on Jenson, but he's the main focus in a race build-up which features a vast range of teams, drivers, team principles and news reports.

With ITV it was very different - Lewis was often the ONLY focus. Every single story seemed to bend around him... even with things he knew absoluetly nothing about, like the "flexi-wings" saga, ITV interviewed Lewis about it rather than finding a technical director to talk to. It was absolute garbage.

The BBC do a MUCH better job, and the reason that the "Hamilton bashers", as you call them, aren't moaning about the BBC's coverage of Button is because there's so much more variety in the pre-race and post-race coverage.

Let's not forget that ITV usually didn't show the drivers' press conference unless Lewis was in it...

to be fair at that point Allen and Martin had been commentating together for 3 years.(it took them a while to gel too)

This is Ledgards first go at TV commentary. I wouldn't expect him and Martin to find their feet straight away.

his problem is he's still stuck in a bit in 'radio mode'.

But i think he is slowly getting better.

Of course the BBC's coverage is incomparably more varied and unbiased than ITV's ever was, and I haven't ever said otherwise. My point is that if you're covering a sport and one guy is winning all the time, some focus on that winner is inevitable, no matter what his nationality is. If Alonso or Kimi were dominating, the BBC would be focusing just as much on them as they currently are on Jenson, for example.

This part of your comment should really be aimed at LS and not at me I think. I never said a thing about "Hamilton bashers", unless quoting his post counts.

have to say, just watched that clip, and it is 100% better than what we get these days. tbh, Croft and Ant in FP manage similar sorts of banter and play off each other. though i think it would be more interesting to hear them without the viewer texts sparking up conversation points... think we'd see a truer reflection on how good they are

Martin asked her who she wanted to win, and she just shouted "I want England to win!", then he asked her again "But who are you supporting?", and again she replied "I want England to win!", so Martin just said thanks and walked away from her.
