if you have a freeview box just go to chanels 301 and 302, they show short highlights (about 3 mins) and then a full replay, and then the 1 hour highlights, before they've shown the highlights show on BBC Three usually.

RIP Jules, never to be forgotten. #KeepFightingMichael

am i the only one who thought the commentary today was awful? I can't get 5 live or red button, so i'm stuck with legard and brundle. I mean they didn't notice the 2 BMWs only had half a front wing for the first 3 laps... then there's the epic silences which were only broken with legard going "and there's Trulli, from Hamilton etc etc"

I agree with you there Adam, it was pure crap. We could clearly notice that it was broken and neither Martin or Jonathan picked it up. I can't believe i'm saying this, I'd have James Allen back :(

In fairness, while Legard failed to notice, so too did Heidfeld, Kubica and the entire BMW crew. Seriously, what did the Beamers circulate for, 3 laps, before they pitted?

I'm watching the gps at a friends house, kind of a tradition for the last few years when I had no coverage, and I haven't really pushed the 5 Live option, but I think I may for Barca, cause Legard is a bit crap. He didn't notice that Glock had taken the lead till about Turn 4. Myself and my friend were shouting at the tv at some points to correct him. Surprised that Brundle didn't jump in more often

The commentary today was generally a bit meh, I thought. Martin did have some inspired moments as usual, but there were some painfully long silences, and both commentators generally seemed a bit uninterested, which was unusual. It suffered a bit too, probably, because it followed on from great commentaries in the first 3 races.

In fairness, while Legard was poor today at times, missing things and also making a few mistakes with his facts and figures, there were times in the past when Allen missed important developments which should've jumped out of the TV screen at him too. One example I can think of off the top of my head was Shanghai 2005 when the drain cover was clearly sticking up out of the track, and then we saw Montoya wallop it in such a way that his car was clearly going to be badly damaged at least, and neither commentator noticed till the replays were shown.
But yup, as much as it pains me to say it, Allen was usually spot on when mentioning past facts and stats.

True, I was very surprised by that. It was only a key development in the race. :P

Legard did, but he said it so low key that I barely noticed. Brundle picked up on it when the next car pitted.

I'm starting to look for things to criticise too, which is never good... not particularly fair enough, but that's the way the world works now. :(

He's not bad, but he portrays the same faults as Allen (getting excited all of a sudden when he feels he should), while being monotonous and never having anything interesting to say.

I suppose the best commentators are the ones you don't really notice, but sub-consciously take in what they're saying, but Legard doesn't do either for me.

As things stand, the only weak point in the BBC presentation is the bloke we have to listen to most. :(

I think we'll see Croft in the seat next year. There's almost universal praise for him at the moment (something I never thought I'd see after his abysmal effort at GP2 commentating). Haven't heard a race with him yet though, only practice.

These silences were useful to me. When RDS were on ads, I switched to TSN, which uses the BBC feed. So when Legard and Brundle went silent, I knew it was time to go back to RDS in a smooth way ;)

I thought the silences were to allow other companies which use the BBC Feed to go for an advert break. ITV did it too, we just didn't notice because we were subjected to the ads.

It cant be right, its the same feed for everybody with each channel adding their own add breaks and commentary to it. There was silence because even they got bored of watching this bore fest in bahrain :(

ITV won a BAFTA last night for their coverage of the Brazilian Grand Prix.

I think was due to the race itself rather than the coverage of it, to be honest. :P

I doubt it. They dont pause for add brakes because UK commentators are only heard on one channel, and that is BBC.

They used the ITV commentators on TSN in Canada, so I assume they know use the BBC ones.
