Yeah Brundle confirmed in an interview with Simon Mayo last week that they would be using The Chain and in its original form.

Having seen some of vids on the new site, i noticed a few 'beds' (backing tracks) that were electro versions of 'The Chain'. I really really really really really hope they havent made a special techno version for the credits. There will be blood in the streets!!!!

EDIT: Covering the same ground as Damas. Whoops.

That is quite frankly the stupidest F1 trailer I've ever seen! Worse than Stallones Cart film. F1 "esque" cars on the road FFS!

Why not do a montage of recent exciting moments!

But then I sadly fear that the BBC will be dumbing it down a bit. Especially as they feel the need to bring back rubbish music from the 70s!

Did I just read that right?

You are about the only one who dislikes that tune.

It's not bad, but it's not as awesome as the UK claims it to be tbh :P

Well, it holds alot of value to alot of people, and from the good ol days of F1.

I remember in karting, before a race, we always used to play the tune, because we had it on type. For me at least it represents alot of good memories of the past. Its a tune that makes me feel all wierred inside still! When I hear that at 3am in the morning on Sunday there will be chills down my spine!

Not to mention that my family associated The Chain with motorsport loooong before any of them started watching F1. When I was a toddler, my parents and I used to sing it if I was pretending to race :P

I think it's embedded in british people's minds as the motorsport theme, whether you're a fan of it or not.

I've never even seen a BBC broadcast of F1 before (started watching ~98';) yet whenever i hear that tune (like on heroes last week) i instantly think of F1 ;)

The song on its own is not as awesome as people claim it to be (but it is far from crap) But combined with F1, it sends shivers down my spine. ITV has had 13 years of over processed rubbish. I want my simple effective, spine tingling intro back. Every little thing counts!

Frankly the rest of the song is a bit @#$%& IMO, but that part is awesome.

I prefer the 2003 - 2005? intro to The Chain

Yeah, I meant the song itself, just like Nemesis78 did. The song on itself isn't that great, but I can imagine it has value to people because they associate it with good F1 memories.

that was probably ITV's best intro, the irony being was it was a blatent attempt at reproducing something similar to 'the chain'

granted, the whole song isn't that amazing, but the bit that is used is pretty much ingrained in peoples conciousness in the UK as the 'Formula 1 music'. Even though it hasn't been used on the tv for 12 years whenever it is played, that is still what most people think of when they hear it.

why do people like it? i guess is partly due to it being used for almost 20 years before itv took over, but as dave points out i think also that there is just something about it when combined with F1 that just works

its like the tune to match of the day, test match special or ski sunday. its more than just the history, there is something about the music that really fits with the sport in question.

Bingo. The Chain isn't 'The Chain, by Fleetwood Mac', it is 'The F1 song'.
