How come no one noticed that Bruninho wrote "MS", it was against his "not even mentioning name of a driver I hate" logic ;)

And it was 2005 Imola where Jenson got pwned :)

Yeah to be honest... I could read better thought out comments in the dailyfail than Bruninho's posts.

One thing that has surprised me so far in testing. And I know it's early days.. but the 2009 spec cars all seem to be fairly closely matched, in one lap pace anyway. I haven't really seen any decent long run comparison.

And whilst obviously we don't know all the setups, programmes, fuel loads etc... I was still kind of expecting a much larger spread than about 2 tenths of a second. (Not counting Renault).

Today the times are much better:

1.S. Bourdais Toro Rosso 1:17.472 66
2.F. Alonso Renault 1:20.115 58
3.L. Hamilton McLaren MP4-24 1:20.263 30
4.M. Webber Red Bull Racing 1:21.971 9
5.K. Nakajima Williams 2:39.999 34

Nakajima might have a problem with the transponder, those times are not normal.

Nakajima's time aren't "normal" because he isn't actually setting times today. He's practising pitstops.

Nico Rosberg is supposed to take over "normal" testing this afternoon.

And according to thef1.com Rosberg has already taken over and completed his installation lap.

He might do some pitstop practice as well, but is also due to do some proper running.

The times are close probably because even though there are new regulations they are very strict and the teams can't make too many radical designs. But then again this is only testing and some teams may be sandbaggin and we will see many new parts come the last tests in Barcelona. I remember last season Toyota was one of the slowest in testing and yet they got a couple of deserved podiums, this time around they are actually the fastest of the teams in Bahrain, so you never know.

Jim, agreed about the times. Especially when you see how different the cars look!

Its one thing that never seizes to amaze me about F1. £millions of moneys, a sheet of regulations, a good group of minds. Visually very different cars and yet within tenths of each other.

Also, Alonso's times are pretty good :)!! it's only testing, but I do wonder if we are seeing the very first effects of a car made for Alonso rather than Piquet.

The seconds gap he had before has now turned into years ;)!

"Trulli was slowing down like he wanted to have a picnic" LOL

Hmm, the cars aren't vastly all that different. Okay, perhaps this year we have a little bit more aerodynamic variety than we have had for a while. However the regulations remain very restrictive.

The differences between the cars are not night and day.

Times from Bahrain:

1 . K. Raikkonen - Ferrari F60 - 1:33.350 (+ 0.000 ) - 105 laps
2 . J. Trulli - Toyota TF109 - 1:33.429 (+ 0.079 ) - 127 laps
3 . C. Klien - BMW Sauber F1.09 - 1:33.666 (+ 0.316 ) - 125 laps

Raikkonen had a small hydraulics problem that lost him some time. These testing times are the closest I have seen in a while both in Jerez and Sakhir, it's unfortunate that there is no data of the stint times from Bahrain.

It'd be nice if Red Bull's testing pace carried on through to the season opener. Mateschitz has said that anything less than fourth or fifth this season won't be good enough. Battling it out with Toyota and Renault is a realistic goal.

You could say Alonso was fastest of the 2009 runners today since Mclaren were using their 2008 'Hybrid' wing. Maybe he does have that 0.6s he goes on about ;)

Kimi's new helmet design = AWESOME

Hope the cars turn out to be as evenly matched as they've looked so far - we'll get some great races :)
