tobacco?

Just a question, not sure if it is possible or not.

But atm tobacco companies seem to be doing okay for themselves. People still want to buy cigerettes.

Could, let's say BAT buy the Honda, keep everything as it is, like a managment buyout and simply paint their colours on the car without actually advertising the logo or words?

Sorta like Marlboro and Ferrari ( which I think still is part of their official name??)

Or even just plaster smoking kills all over the car?

yes, they probably could theoretically - but it would be a big investment for possibly not much return.

i'm sure some teams would rather have tobacco sponsors than financial sponsors at the moment though!

I'd say fast food companies could do something similar, they're doing well now, but fast food advertising is also fairly restricted in some countries.

Vodafone are unsure of sponsoring McLaren after one of their major f1 fan boss left so they might be going in the next few years

Talking about Fast Food Companies however,

Burger King McLaren Mercedes

McDonalds Renault F1 Team
Oreos Toyota Racing

Nandos Williams
TBC Team
Wimpy Force India Mercedes

I think that idea is good ;)

Can you back that up with a source?

Burger King McLaren Mercedes, huh? Probably wouldn't be enough to entice Montoya back...

LS's Tip of the week
ESSENTIAL OILS aren't essential unless you're an engine, a gearbox or a twat

I already got few F1 cars with Happy Meals some years ago.. ;)

Burger King and Pizza Hut won't ever have the funds to be a major backing, Domino's maybe in the US! Right now I don't think I can even convince someone here to convince someone else regarding McD's F1 race sponsorship, and there are some very big F1 fans here (who drive Ferraris)

I wonder why Microsoft doesn't sponsor anyone and also Nintendo could, they are practically swiming in pools of money because of the Wii and the DS they show no signs of stopping. A Mario Bros Ferrari, LOL.

MS has nothing to gain, Nintendo is making money but they were beaten cash-wise from the time the SNES died to the time the Wii came up. Gameboy has saved them all this time, now they're better off saving it and reinvesting and paying off dividends than flamboyantly spending 20% of their profits on a moving banner!

I think they lost money on the 64, but I think they actually made a good profit with the Gamecube so they where relatively healthy in those days.

Mario and Ferrari would actually be quite a good tie in like fido and 7up only more recognisable. Nintendo could get a game out of it, maybe some spin on mario kart for a laugh.
