does F1 dirvers read about themselves in newspaper and internet sites.

Are they members at any boards. Do they patricipate in discussions.

I am saking this because I spotted once a user on autosport forums that calls himself David Coulthard, and has; "regards, David Coulthard" in his signature.

Is it him or his PR team?

Once I heard that J.Villeneuve participates in online leagues.

Can you imagine if a real F1 driver would sign up here.

Last night I tried to imagine N.Piquet jr. registering, and what mayhem would it cause

I am leaving, I am actually offended

Can you imagin what would happen if Red5 would sign up, under another name, and read all the stuff we joke about him?

you do not have to register to read this forums. Anyone can read it even red 5 who is banned as far as I know, but that still doesnt mean he can not read. The only thing he can not is to defend himself, because he can not post.

tbh Red 5 or whatever, batina actually has an interesting point.

Nelson Piquet Jnr would just get totally destroyed if he joined this ( or most ) forums tbh!

Most drivers claim to try not to read the papers. Probably sensible as well.

But also I'd imagine it's difficult not to take a peep once and again just to see what the hacks are writing about you.

You probably wouldn't get too many well know drivers partipating in a forum like this. They might browse, but they'd probably stay clear of most of the bullshit.

A lot of racing drivers are actively involved in online sim racing though.

Thing is though...would you actually believe it if a real F1 driver did register and post here? Most people would probably think them an impostor.

Yeah, but reading it is also a test how one deals with pressure and such. I guess the presure comes with the territory.*stating the obvious*

So someone in the spotlight ideally should be able to handle it, have enough confidence and not let criticism get to him.
Or ofcourse not read it, if it buggs him/her. Whatever works best for the individual, depends on one's sensitivity.

/That said, I actually more or less gave Piquet benefit of the doubt in one of the threads in a sense that second season will tell it how it is, when it comes to his potentials.

Imagine how it would have been if two certain drivers were browsing the forums for my critics? ;)

Here in Brazil, at least in his orkut fanclub community (that was made by some fans not him), Felipe sometimes participates, generally to thank the fans for the support and things like that, quite one I remember that was in 2007 after Canadian race, alot of ppl were writting words of support after the Sunday and he dropped there to thank everybody, really a fine gesture.

Regarding Nelson I don't know if he already posted in such, but he has a profile in the Orkut too.

Though, already saw one of his sisters posting, she is a fan of Ayrton Senna. (well quite ironic no?)
