Top people went out towards the end when the track was the fastest. When you were old enough to remember things, Schumacher already had the best car to get pole on many occasions :P

Absolutely dumb.

I love this knock out system, the 2005 one was uber crap. Just one car whizzing around the track the 06+ has been the best one it has the most amount of entertainment compared to the others. Bernie's losing his mind with wife and £2.4b

Every time the quali format seems to be popular and settled, they seem to want to mess it up.
It'd be pretty hard to keep track of what's goin on, and the drivers would spend the whole session in a total frenzy.

I know that. But I thought it'd be obvious that they wouldn't put in their three laps at the start when the track was yet to be cleaned by the Minardis and the Arrows' :P

This is not Bernie. It is the teams (FOTA).

For me i like the current system, however the thing i don't like about the current system is lowest fuel people getting the frot row. Now the new idea is a good one too, but imagine the chaos.

How about keeping the old one, but giving the last 10 drivers in Q3 the same amount of fuel, even things out a bit. Just a thought FIA

Alrighty then, what's to be changed next? I always have been a bit conservative, but you have to admit there's not much left in f1 which has not been changed or has been proposed to change.

I also like this current system, however I always liked the old system (pre 2002 I guess) best.

you are all missing one key word: entertainment the rules keep changing to make it more fun for the viewers. When i sit down to watch Quali and Race I want to be entertained! damnit, these days Qualifying is a snooze fest and back when it was 1h same thing, only last 5-10 minutes are interesting.

I don't want entertainment as such.

We all like a bit of variety and unexpected performances from underdogs, but not because someone else spun and another driver lost their nose as a result, qualifying 18th or something.

I want to see drivers doing their absolute best, not just vying for space and crossing their fingers.

If you want entertainment, go watch Strictly Come Dancing. I want motorsport.

Since when could that be considered as entertainment?

I was waiting for someone to post something like that, but I was expecting the suggestion to be Desperate HouseWifes or some such :)
