Well, I was browsing old F1 news pages. And come to staggering conclusion, half of what we read from so called reliable sources is complete BS. Look below and judge for jourself.


News: Volkswagen to join williams for 1999 season:

Truth: BMW joined williams

News: Eddie Jordan saying Hill will not drive for his team in 1998:

Truth: Hill joined Jordan for 1998

News: Team Lotus to return to F1 in 1999
[www.motorsport.com]
Truth: They never returned

News: All weather tyre to replace grooved tyre for 2001
[www.motorsport.com]
Truth: never happened


News: Villeneuve wanted Le Mans title as early as 2001
[www.motorsport.com]
truth: still missing on that title

News: South africa to return to F1 calendar in 2001
[www.motorsport.com]
Truth: never happened

News: even in 1997 French GP was missing from the provisional calendar
[www.motorsport.com]
truth: It lasted up to 2008 at least taking part every year at the same time same place

News: French GP dropped and Berger joining Ferrari in 1998

Truth: for french GP see above, Berger retired after 1997

News: Friday practice to be abolished from 1997 onwards

truth: as of 2008 we still have friday practice

News: Inoue signs for Minardi for 1996 season to partner Pedro Lamy

Truth: he signed but never drove a single lap. In the end dissapeared from F1

NEws: MS denies he will join Ferrari, DH could go to Indycar
[www.motorsport.com]
Truth: MS joined Ferrari, DH never tured a wheel in Indycars

NEWS: Vileneuve to join Ferrari, if not, than at least Sauber, as early as last 4 races of 1995
[www.motorsport.com]
Truth: He joined Williams in 1996

NEWS: LAs Vegas to host 1996 F1 final race
[www.motorsport.com]
truth: Never happened, F1 went to US in 2000 to indianapolis.

anyway, rumours and speculation aren't always right, and it at least gives us something to talk about. anyway, those articles were from a long time ago, where i imagine it would be harder to maintain a high level of accuracy
