Some think with their own head and don't go with the flow.

/not that everyone who goes with the flow does not think with their own head.

You can compare it to other sports though. The BBCs MotoGP coverage isn't the best in the opinion of some, but it's miles and miles ahead of the ITV F1 coverage. As is the BBC football coverage, the Olympic coverage, the coverage of the indoor bowls winter series, and that's only taking into account 1 broadcaster. Start considering the British satellite channels and the ITV coverage is only decent in one single area.

I'd even go as far as saying the ITV4 BTCC coverage is better, and GP2 for that matter, despite my rising dislike of the commentator.

I wouldn't go as far as saying ITV's coverage of GP2 was better than the F1. As eye candy as she may be (what's here name again?) she obviously had no interest in motorsport couple to a complete lack of knowledge.

It would really pay to have someone with a enthusiastic interest allied to a grounded knowledge to be presenting and interviewing rather than someone who's only there because there are easy on the eye.

It's s a bit like getting Katie Price to anchor Prime Ministers question time. It just wouldn't work.

Which despite their love and experience of motorsport, is exactly how Rider and Blundell came across.

She might not know or care much (same with BTCC), but it was more entertaining than the rest of the show, and the work away from her was far better than in F1.

yeah as mentioned, Love his books, and loved him in the pits.

He was a bit annoying at first in the box, but him being 'gay' for Lewis has completely turned me off him!

2013 - Nando must come through..

I hate him and I fail to understand how ITV never replaced him or gave him commentary role in the first place. He must be someones relative from ITV or some such...

On another note, is Louise Goodman not coming to BBC? its a shame i always liked her and met her in real life as well, nice person.

I think Louise secureda job with Honda for 2009, some PR role with them.. hang on.

Quote

The Honda Formula 1 team has signed up with ITV F1's Louise Goodman. Louise will become the team's guest presenter at HondaRacingF1.com.

HondaRacingF1.com offers fans a truly engaging online experience and central to the website is Honda Racing TV - Formula One's first online TV channel - which takes viewers into the heart of the Honda team with a series of behind-the-scenes features created specifically for the site.

Louise, best known for her role as pit lane reporter for ITV-F1's coverage, will bring almost twenty years of motorsport experience to the role. She began her career as Press Officer for the Leyton House team and worked with Honda race driver Rubens Barrichello at Jordan Grand Prix at the very start of his F1 career.

Louise's first show is online now at HondaRacingF1.com as she spends the day with Rubens at a celebratory golf tournament to mark his historic achievement of becoming the most experienced Formula One driver of all time, with 257 Grands Prix to his name.

David Butler, Marketing Director of the Honda Racing F1 Team, commented, "Louise will be presenting a number of features with Honda Racing TV over the course of the 2008 season to give our fans a unique insight into the passion and commitment of the Honda Racing F1 Team."

Her name is Jane Omorogbe & she used to be a gladiator on the tv series, she also used to be an ambulance driver.

Apparently thats enough to land a job on the British Superbikes coverage too :p

TV companys seem to have quota's to fill when it comes to female tv presenters hence her & Charlie Webster from the GP2 coverage, you could also go so far as Georgie Thomson from Sky's A1GP coverage.

None of them seem knowledgable or interested in what they are doing, with the exceptions of Louise Goodman & Susie Perry ( Although i'm not a fan of Perry's, i think she only does it because of her gender and she's apparently attractive!)

I'm not against women involved in motorsport by any stretch, i find Louise Goodman very good at what she does. She's enthusiastic and knows what she's talking about and conveys that to the camera and thats whats needed, not some ill informed eye candy, that benefits who exactly?

Its not all one sided either, as a prime example of putting someone in a job they were out of their depth in, was Jim Rosenthal.

I really hope I never see Allen's smug, ugly @#$%& face ever again. I cannot believe ITV stuck by him, he was so bloody annoying.

Kravitz and Rider can also let the door hit them on the way out. Kravitz doesn't seem to actually understand what's going on (I keep having to tell people I watch the race with why what he just says isn't true) and Rider is irritating. My stress levels were very low when Brundle had to take over the presenter role at that grand prix not long ago.

As long as Brundle is around next year, I'm fairly content. I also think Louise Goodman was okay at what she did and wouldn't have been averse to seeing her on the BBC.

For my money the best Motorsport commentary team were to be found on Eurosports MotoGP coverage. Insightful, knowlegeable, loved the sport, had friends throughout the pitlane and could mange to get a (at the time) 7 times GP champion to co-commentate with them despite him racing later that same day. As well as numerous previous champions to spend time with them. After the Trio pf Toby, Julian and Randy. Most other teams fall very very short

ITV
I have no problem with Allen. I think he gets a bit over excited at times. But hes knowledgeable about the sport and rarely makes mistakes. to the complainers. Try commentating for 2 hours without making 1 mistake. Not so easy.
Brundle. Sure hes good, but his grid walks suck really bad nowadays. Ryder, well I like him but hes saddled with Blundell who is strange when it comes to punditry. Goodman no time for her whatsoever. Funny to see her role at Honda is basically trailing drivers when they go to PR events. I dont dislike Kravitz either. Makes a few mistakes but its maybe not so easy if you dont have a timing screen in front of you.

Other channels
BBC. Dont like Parrish, Dont like Cox and dont like Perry. In fact it makes me laugh that viewers "respect" her when all it is that they want to have sex with her. Shes not that good and I say to people that like her to maybe go on a porn website if they want something to wank over!

Regarding Janie Omorogbe. She took to the BSB coverage far better than I would of imagined and was a great asset to their coverage. Like all the best presenters she knew the key players in the paddock on a personal level could always think of something sensible to ask them. She does the TT coverage nowadays and shackled to Mike Brewer is great because it makes her look 1000 times more intelligent!

I find him to be a genuinely likable guy who obviously knows his stuff when it comes to F1. He's been able to make some of the most boring races in the history of the sport extremely interesting (I'll remember Indy 2005 esp for this) and I'll be genuinely sorry to see him go - Hopefully we'll see him commentating on other motorsports next year.

The only reason why I would want Goodman to stay is if Coulthard stayed ;), he always gave some witty comment back to her, usually about her nipples ;).

It will be interesting to see who pairs up with Brundle next year.

he's a massive boat that sank after hitting an iceberg? ;)

the man is a smarmy twat, will be glad to never see him again. Louise can go too. although informed, her flirting with DC and JB gets too much sometimes.

I don't mind Ted, but he can be a little bit Alan Partridge at times. James wasn't in the least bit annoying when he did Ted's job between '97 and '01.

as for eye candy, hiring Bev Turner was a big mistake.

RIP Jules, never to be forgotten. #KeepFightingMichael

After hiring Brundle, it was the best thing they did. At least during the dribbling on about nothing there was something to rest your eyes on. ;)

Stark contrast to now, where we get even more dribbling on about nothing and Mark Blundell to feast our eyes on.

Idea for the BBC; Get Connie Montoya to present it.

At least with Beverly.. she wasn't there to cover the sporting side... more the atmosphere at the event.

I think she was okay considering, and eye candy of course.

LMAO at that blog... there is the odd post in there complimenting his commentary... but every other post lays into him for fawning over Lewis Hamilton.
