So, only a few days left of James Allen's ITV commentary career (probably) ;)

love him or hate him, he's certainly left his mark on the TV coverage of the sport, whether it be his mistakes, his obsession with button and now hamilton or the various spoofs and petitions against him. Regardless of this, he clearly knows his stuff as shown by many of his written works, but it is unfortunate that he can't quite convey this on-screen regularly. it will be very interesting to see what we get next year to replace him.

however, he'll probably be always remembered for this...

My thought is: why hasn't anybody thought of this earlier? It would've prevented that every race thread turned into a Allen-rant ;)

Since I am not from the UK, I have little memories or thoughts. I do get annoyed when I hear him copying Murrays GOGOGOGO! Him doing it isn't even a hundreth as good as Murray doing it.

LMAO at Allen in that clip

As i said before, even though i think he's a crap commentator and makes too many mistakes, it was partly him who made ITV one of the best commentary in the world imo.

Hopefully BBC can provide something better though!

After the bit where he goes "GET IN THERE" he drops his voice down. Its like he was "having a fun time with himself" and then finishes when Jenson crosses the line ;)

edit: his books are good, but in the commentary box, he's a cock

Yeah,he just let himself go, because he knew Button winning a GP wasn't very likely to happen a second time ;)

I don't actually mind him, I have heard much worse commentators in other sports.

I think him and Brundle do alright together.

yes, but unfortunately his support of hamilton has clouded this somewhat

remember last year at both China and Brazil how devastated he was after Lewis' various mistakes and failures.

He was best when he wasn't in the commentary box but speaking from the pits - quick, concise and informed...dono what hapened when he got a mic for more than 10 seconds at a time.

Allen is a cock of the first order, his books i agree are very good and theres no doubt he's very knowledgable about F1.

When i see his smary little pug face on any of the ITV coverage post qualifying i want to throw a brick through the tv screen.

He's not a front man by any means in my opinion, he was at his best talking strategys in the pitlane as a reporter when Murray was still co-commentating with Martin Brundle.

I wont miss him at all, unless rumours are true that the prick that is Edddie Irvine is making his way back to F1 screen.

Then i might.

i never really liked james allen, but i've come to think he's very much like titanic - one of those things people just love to hate when actually it's pretty good

Was afraid that would happen. :)

Its a reference to James Allen insistence on saying one one-hundredth, two one-hundredth, three one-hundredth etc. Bugs the hell out of me

Most things James Allen say in commentary bug the hell out of me, but I've also developed in a way that I largely ignore him.

But in fairness to him, he was actually quite good in the pits, much better than Louise who simply flirts with DC etc.

With all these rants towards the ITV crew, I can't believe there are still people saying it's one of the best crews on the world...

You won't hear me saying that, chiefly because I can't compare to other crews, I only being fluent in one language.
