Gang, sorry for such a simple question, but who better to ask?

What is the 2008 % of race completion to be classified?

It used to be 75%, but information I have checked elsewhere has proven to be contradictory.

Thanks in advance.

75% is the percentage of the complete distance above which all the points are awarded.

The distance required to be classified is 90% of the distance covered by the winner ==> [argent.fia.com], Article 45.2 (page 29).

o.k. so, lets say 5 cars finish a race. and 3 are retired, but have completed 75% race distance, would those 3 cars receive points?

LOL.

no, 75% to be legal, and 90% to recieve points.

no, 75% is for the race to be legal, so any red flag after this point will end the race, while drivers must finish more than 90% of the race to score points, usually 5 or so laps from the end. an example of this is bourdais at albert park this year who still scored points despite his retirement

Hm, it's actually 90% of the laps covered by the winner.
So what if race got race flagged at 76%, was declared legal, but there'd be drivers who'd have 90% of the winner's laps, however less than 75% of the full race.
They do get the points.

And if the race isnĀ“t finished, and has a red flag at 60%, the drivers that finished in points get 1/2 of the points?

As an extension of that, I think I'm right in saying that if less than 50% of the race is completed, no points are awarded, but I may be wrong on this.

Edit: Nope, I'm wrong and stupid.

the remainder of the race is usually run when possible, and an aggregate taken from the two "halfs"

if that is not possible, then half points are awarded
