James Allen, what a joke!! SPOILERS!

I just read this from the ITV-F1 website, on James allan column regarding the Monaco GP

'The key to the win, though, was Hamilton’s pace on full tanks in the long middle phase of the race. He was much faster than Felipe Massa in similar conditions and it was soon clear that the race was his for the taking.'

How were the condictions the same, Massa pitted on lap 33 was fulled until the end of the race which was 42 laps later on lap 75

Hamilton pitted on lap 54, 19 laps after Massa. To which this point Massa had 23 laps worth of fuel more than hamalton.

SO HOW how were they both racing in similer conditions

James allan is just a smelly fart!!

I've added a spoiler tag to your thread title and corrected the spelling of James Allen. Please be more understanding when posting spoilers. :)

Totally agree with you on James Allen

I'm going to have to start watching the races on mute, before i could put up with his Lewis worship, but Sunday pushed me over the edge!

If only you could mute him and keep Brundle, hope the BBC ditch him

He really is ruining F1 for me now, i honestly believe my hatred for Hamilton would not be here if it wasn't for James

What I find most interesting in that column is the way that he seems to write off Heikki as a serious championship threat. To my mind, he's been just as good as Hamilton this year, especially given that Hamilton's been with the team for a year already and Heikki's had such bad luck. I think James is writing him off a little prematurely as a serious threat past this year.

I was also amazed that he didn't have Button's win in Hungary as one of his top 3 races. He's not smitten any more, then...

While bad luck accounts for most of the gap, i think it's going to be very difficult for Kovalainen to make up 23 points with the same car without Hamilton having bad luck of his own.

Man,
You are forgetting that Lewis, a lap5, come back for his broken tyre.
In that moment, he made an high refuelling.

I don't know James Allen, but he is right when he says that.
But I think the key has been in Lewis' luck (to go out without breaking rear suspension: it's a miracle!) and esepcially thanks to the following safety car: before taht he was at about 2'" from Massa. After taht, before Massa first pit, he was at no more than 6".

Man you speak about taht James Allen because you don't know speakers: they makes their chronicle without looking at race, only checking laptimes.....
Even if Ivan Capelli is very good in chrnicle, they comment what happens in race about 30" after something has happened.

I've never heard Martin Brundle's chronicles.........

What annoyed me this weekend was the constant Senna comparisons...

Also ive heard two stories about his helmet... Some say its yellow because its easy to spot, and in karting his mother wanted it yellow for that reason, and then ive heard the Senna reason ... :s!

How can james say that for lap after lap he said it looked like kubica might get his 1st win lol.

If you look back when Lewis started racing it was a senna design.

I dont know how he can say its a senna charge as I hardly remember senna doing that, Ms yes not senna though.

I saw some Lewis feature on ITV last year before a race and Lewis said it was yellow so his dad could see him easily on the track.

Suzuka 1988 and 1989 not enough for you? Epic charges. The only thing that Schumacher came close to in comparison was his excellent Hungary 1998 race as I remember.

This is one thing you can compare between drivers of different eras. Picking famous ones, Mansell's '87 Silverstone charge, Clark's Monza '67 one and Fangio's legendary Nurburgring '57 win are the only comparable ones that spring to my rather fading mind.

//edit: quoted marcl as Mr. Lister got in the way. ;)

similar conditions.... well hate to spoil your party, that would be the similar ocnditions of a wet and dry race they both faced!

Jenson drives it like he owns it; Lewis drives it like he stole it

abrakain, had Lewis broke his suspension his mechanics would have kept him in the pits and he'd have retired. He just got lucky to only have busted his tire.

I'm guessing he means in the same track conditions. Now I like a James Allen bash but that's just clutching at straws tbh. If you're gonna bash him, bash him for that absolutely dreadful Green Day reference (you decide if absolutely dreadful refers to the reference or the band)

Oh god yeah I forgot about his Green Day reference, it was cringeworthy to hear! What also annoyed me was that they called it a Senna esq win, but surely Senna wouldnt have stuck it in the wall on the way there?
