I'm actually a Kimi fan, but I just think Alonso has been maximizing his car's potential more than any other driver out there so far.

And it could easily be the other way around... It could be that Piquet is looking so bad because Alonso is doing so good? (HAHAHAHAHA... who am I kidding?) :-) Piquet has really sucked so far.

I also think the Renault this year is better than the last one. But their competition seems to have made greater improvements.

Not having a go at alonso here but who really knows what that car can do. Maybe kimi could make it go faster or give alonso a good team mate and see how close they are to him.

If they are not then I would say alonso is doing a great job. Its very hard to say how he is doing tbh.

A few drivers though I dont think will be in f1 to much longer and they are Sutil and Piquet. I dont even think they will make it as far as Silverstone.

yes, i hope liuzzi gets another chance with force india.

the problem with piquet for renault is, kovalainen also had a terrible start to last year and there were rumours he would be sacked, but look where he is now...

Indeed. Piquet is a world class whose just had a bad start, he'll get there and when he does I think he could get there big time.

not true Heikki's terrible start last only 1 race and that was Melbourne after that he was already on the same pace with Fisico and scored points...and at the end of the season he was clearly faster than Fisico!

about Piquet I knew he would suck, He was not good at gp2 2005 against Rosberg and Kovalainen and on f1-tests he was slower than Heikki and Nico .

By this time Heikki had at least shown improvment. Piquet has not.

Bourdais and Glock have got up to speed pretty quicky. Bourdais was quite consistantly quicker than Vettel.

Last year Kovalainen was 1.6 and 1.3 seconds slower than Fisichella in Thursday sessions.

Sato is the one that people are saying could end up there. Renault probably need money that he can bring.

i dont think rosberg's done anything too substantial so far. his podium in melbourne was mostly luck, and apart from that he hasn't shown the speed of trulli, webber and alonso generally.

Massa?

Hang on a sec, hear me out. He cocked it up in Melbourne and Sepang, but since then has been brilliant. Yeah, they are 'Massa circuits' but two dominating performances in Bahrain and Turkey, as well as shadowing Kimi home in Spain prove that, well, he's very good at those tracks. I don't expect he'll continue to deliver to the same standard for the balance of the season, but the question only asked for my driver of the year so far, which doesnt include tracks such as Monaco, Hungary, Belgium, etc.

So he cocked up 40% of rhe races by your measurement and he's your driver of the year? Anyway.

I'm going to pick Alonso as he's pretty consistantly got himself into perhaps better positions than the Renault really deserves.

Well, considering that you guys were expecting Massa to dry up and blow away after Malaysia, he hasn't really done that badly since.

Rosberg not good? wtf? Hes outpacing both toyotas! And scored a podium! Clearly he has the potential.

the Ferrari #2 will deliver the biggest shipment of fail at the end of the year by not winning the title, and in the last races he'll end up escorting Kimi to another win to clinch his 2nd world title against Hamilton.
