Edwards and Brundle would be a competent line-up in the box.

just to clarify i dont mean as a permanent fixture. maybe doing a season preview/season so far show, every now and them with driver interviews and there own take on teh action, with maybe some sort of TG-F1 Challenge (build a certain type of car to transport drivers to teh british GP o something lol :p)

i for one think it would be funny, but terrible, if they were the permanant presenting trio

I guess there would have to be some some kind of link somewhere, I mean TG is probably the most popular car show worldwide, and F1 is the most popular motorsport and even probably sport worldwide.

I bet it would piss 5th gear off a bit ;). They have a washed up touring car driver and old man tiff and some blonde who likes to drive cars fast and pull funny faces... we would have kimi :p

Slightly OT, but it's a bit harsh to call Jason Plato a washed-up touring car driver! The only reason he didn't win the British Championship last year was because he crashed a car during a feature he was filming for Fifth Gear!!

Do you actually watch Top Gear? Clarkson is a massive fan as stated on lots of episodes

personally i'm happy to stick with rider, blundell, brundle + allen tbh, but what would be nice is if the highlights show was redone in a studio with hammond, clarkson + may reviewing the racing weekend.

Clarkson has always slagged off F1 on TG, only when Lewis Hamilton emerged last season and then came on the show did he start to say he watches it all the time. i got the impression that if an olympic basket-weaver became famous and came on TG he'd probably say he's a massive fan of the sport and watches it all the time.

remember when Carol Vorderman came on and she said she's a big fan, then he ripped her up about it, saying it was awful and boring?

It was awful and boring though. Doesn't mean he wasn't a fan. It might have just been that it was like most of us.

Why's the Stig infamous? :\

It's fairly clear they're testing Croft out during the GP2 races. He's been excellent on 5Live, though his Turkey GP2 commentary was... very tabloidish.

Brundle deserves a role. The BBC have currently have no-one with modern hands-on experience lined up that we know of, and they need a Brundle.

Otherwise, people like Perry McCarthy would be nice to see. Guys with a spark about them, rather than bland corporate machines, ala Blundell. Wouldn't disagree about having Chiles presenting though - no idea if he's a fan or not, but he's got a good, dry sense of humour about him and a certain charm as a presenter.

Not hiring Brundle would be a big mistake imo. Even though its not really surprising that they ain't.

But technically theres plenty of people for the BBC to choose from, Alex Wurz has constantly hinted he wants to be a commentator, Davidson if he dosn't get a seat in 2009 may do too if he dosn't go elsewhere, Damon Hill if he ain't too busy maybe tempted by it, there are many more but the only problem is these all have no experience and some are boring as hell a commentator, whereas Brundle has already established himself well ;)

Nooo, they have to keep Martin Brundle, he is such a good commentator. Its the reason why ITV coverage is best IMO.
