Formula 1 prepares to roar back into action in just over a week’s time in Australia, with what promises to be another action-packed season.

So to get you revved up for a cracking new year, ITV Sport is kicking off its coverage of the 2008 campaign with our traditional preview show, this Sunday from 11.10am on ITV1.

The hour-long programme, presented by Steve Rider with analysis from Martin Brundle, will fill you in on the form heading to Melbourne with exclusive interviews with some of the star names in the sport.

We will also bring you up to date with all the details of the year’s two new exciting races on the streets of Valencia and Singapore.

Show highlights include:

- Louise Goodman reports on Ferrari and McLaren's pre-season preparations and talks to the drivers, including world champion Kimi Raikkonen.

- Lewis Hamilton talks exclusively to Steve Rider about his preparations and hopes for his second F1 season.

- Ted Kravitz looks at Fernando Alonso's return to Renault, Nelson Piquet's arrival and the team's pre-season pace.

- Louise travels to Valencia to look at the preparations for August's race, while Martin visits Singapore to check up on developments for the night race and gives his thoughts on both new circuits.

- Ted brings us the latest on BMW's and Williams' 2008 preparations.

- An exclusive interview with new Honda team boss Ross Brawn at the start of the biggest challenge of his career.

- A look at the rule changes for 2008 and the drivers’ thoughts on the challenges posed.

- A preview of all the other teams on the grid.

- We go out to Italy to join the Ferrari team on their annual pre season ski event.

It’s a jam-packed show that will get you right up to speed in time for the first race, so make sure you tune into ITV1 at 11:10-12:10 on Sunday 9th March.

Can't believe the new season is already here, it just seems like yesterday when i was jumping about my living room when Kimi won the WDC. Now I just hope this isn't a Hamilton fest.

I remember the 2007 preview was minus James Allen and I prayed and prayed he'd been stabbed in his gentleman's area causing a fatal blood loss. Sadly come Melbourne, there he was. Looking the worse for it.

Yeah but F1 races are easy to get rid of him, mute TV, turn on Radio 5 Live :) Just a shame Brundle has to go too :(

Not if you watch it like I do. :P

I tend to do something else for half an hour before the race so I could just skip the oral sex and adverts. Generally by the final advert I was a few minutes behind or had caught up.

Other than Nurby 2007 when I watched live so I could hear Murray doing the 5Live commentary, I think the last race I watched live-live was Suzuka 2006, when there was a little puff of smoke just at the top of the screen just as ITV went to advert. Thinking that's roughly where Schumacher was I immediately reached for the radio remote... turned out it was MS.

You need help mate ;)

"Other than Nurby 2007 when I watched live so I could hear Murray doing the 5Live commentary, I think the last race I watched live-live was Suzuka 2006"

I just don't get the same buzz from F1 as i used to, ten years ago i wouldn't miss a GP for anything. Saying that Brazil '07 was quite a cliff hanger.

Kimi is WDC? You could've put a spoiler in the thread :(

surprising why ITV have not removed James Allen by now, majority of people who watch f1 hate him, really is odd...

Some time nick, you gotta realise Hamilton did not take the title, get over it ;)

Well, actually a few people like him.
We have to remember, though he appears to be dumb, he is probably still more knowledgeable than most of us.

He has to appear abit more dumb i guess by asking martin questions he knows the answers too to make it look like the classic duo of one dumb and one clever.

we have to give the guy credit, he has enthusiasm and i highly doubt anyone here can do his job any better tbf.

okay he can be quite annoying sometimes but so was murray at times. there are the annoying phrases like turn the wick up lol but i cant do anything about it other than mute, but i like martins input and i like the sound of the cars, so i will live with it

Yeah and coincidentally they are the ITV board members, its the only explination why he's still there ;)

No one is questioning his intelligence or knowledge. It's his skills as a commentator most don't like. :P

His incompetence (in my opinion) last year seemed less apparent after the gay sex orgies around the McLaren garages. Doesn't mean he was any better, just that everything around him (Brundle excluded) were just much worse than previously.

Yeah James Allens mediocrity didnt stand out as much last year, because the whole of the ITV coverage was awful.

I really don't see what is wrong with Allen? Atleast he gets excited about the racing (much more than can be said for Brundle) and seems to have that Marray-esque voice which I think fits the sport, it's all you can ask. Mark Blundell however! There's a cock that needs resizing - he offers absolutely nothing to the coverage at all.

It's his over-excitment that annoys me. He's like Jonathan Pearce's football commentary. It's totally false. It's like there's a director in his ear shouting "MORE, MORE! MAKE IT LOUDER!". The way he goes about stuff is cringeworthy.

If he just relaxed and commentated as a bloke talking about F1, he's probably be acceptable.

I wouldn't care, but during that replacement for Murray in Magny-Cours he was fine.
