Yes, although if you have been/seen some tests, most of the drivers perform quali laps at some point.

Anyway, considering it was the first time he was driving the R27, not suited to him at all (he has not participated in its development), it is running with the F2008 and the mp4-23 (new cars), it was the first day of testing for him after 2.5 months...it was a great day for him indeed.

In the chicane on the video, he definitely wasn't using TC ;)

But yes, he does seem to have made the transition quite smoothly - i guess we'll get to see if he lives up to the hype quite soon.

From where do you get that Pedro did his best time in a 20 lap stint?

From what I know of Alonso's times, he was running during the morning with used tires. During the afternoon he put new ones and in a long stint he set 1.20.3, and finally, in a flying lap he did the final time.

yeah Heikki Kovalainen's interview for example where he says he is not worried about Alonso's time because it was a quali run etc and McLaren only focused on long runs(Heikki did 40 laps on morning and 4 times long run on afternoon)...and also most of the internet sites/forums says Ferrari did long runs also.Kovalainen said that when you look at Alonso's other times there is no reason what so ever to be worried because they were far from the pace of McLaren.

A little arrogant, isn't he? I think he should have more consideration for Alonso and what he is capable of.

no not arrogant at all =) he also said Alonso is a 2 times world champion and a great driver and capable of doing great drives but Heikki knows R27 very well and when looking at Alonso's times it doesn't scare him at the moment.Heikki also said Renault has done pr stunts before they did it with him also :) we will have to wait and see how good R28 is... only then we can see if Alonso is a threat or not.

20 laps series. :)

BTW, Lewis crashed this morning?

Yes.
Well, I think it was not really a crash, something mechanical I think, but I'm not sure.

To McLaren Driver Heikki

Q. How is the car (MP4-23) in the longer runs?

A. I think it's really promising. We started the runs in the 1:19s and we managed to finish in the low 1:20s. To me it feels quite positive and the engineers seem to be encouraged, but you never really know where you are in testing - you don't know what the other teams are doing. But from the handling I'm quite encouraged.

Whats going on with Lewis? Do you think he has been doing too much press and partying! he said that he was going to be doing "less testing" this winter, but from looks of it he needs to do a lot more!
