The FIA has confirmed that the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix will take place at night as planned.he inaugural Singapore event, to be held on a new street circuit in the Asian city, is scheduled to take place on September 28.

Do you think that the drivers could see right or they will have problems with the lights?

I cant see racing at Night to be a major issue.

The amount of flood lighting that will be available will be sufficient, and night racing in all other forms of motor sport has been occurring for years.

The FIA wouldn't allow this if it was going to be unsafe!

All I can say is bring it on, I think it will certainly take off.

Won't be a problem. Champ Car and NASCAR have both run flood-lit night races with no visibility issues.

When it was first announced I was dreading it, but now I'm looking forward to it :) Should be quite spectacular! The circuit looks good, too, from what I've read about it in this month's F1 Racing mag.

TV audiences in Europe will be enormous as the race will be shown live at midday in Europe. Some questions:

What if it is raining??
Will Quali be at night???
Will there have to be lights on the cars???

There will be some excellent photots and TV shots. An onboard lap of the track at night will be one of the ultimate TV shots.

1. Wont be any difference to races. Situation is 100% same as in Monaco.
2. Not 100% sure but what I did understand race shud be some highlight so it wud propably mean no.
3. Hell no. No space on cars and there will be so many light around track that there is no even smallest need for more lights.

4. Atleast differentkind background than normally.
5. same..

Kimi, so, Massa Fernando Sebastian is faster than you. Can you confirm you understood that message?

I don't understand why this would be any different to if it's raining in the daytime. If anything visibility will be better because of the floodlights.

Does it rain much in Singapore? I don't know.

Only just thought of this, but what about track temperatures? I mean at night, there is no sun (obviously, since it is night, lol) and the lamps definitely wont heat the track so wont we be seeing plenty of cold tyre situations all through the race?

night racing? ridiculous. One of the 2008 races that I'm not going to follow.

I'll watch it just as much as I would any other race. The night aspect doesn't interest me at all, so to me it's just another F1 race, same as all the others. Plus it's a street circuit, and street circuits rock, though if it's all Tilkefied then I doubt it'll be half as good as most other street circuits, and will probably be the width of Sepang.

Regarding rain, having multiple sources of light race than 1 will cause some problems. As any biker knows light hitting your visor when it's wet can be a absolute nightmare, and while the lights won't be as direct as what we have to deal with, having light shining on water droplets (streaking or not) will still impair their vision a lot more than during the day.

Yes but in NASCAR the oval tracks and the white walls help the lights.

No not really. NASCAR has ran night races with red walls and yellow walls, and in the olden days the regular grey concrete walls.

CCWS ran a fully lit street circuit at Houston.

Mark Webber did say that the main issue right now is that if it Rains, visibility will be seriously hampered. So I think that's the only problem right now.

As for the race itself, the night thing won't change much for me. I'll still watch though, since it's a F1 race.

£4.10 if you buy it off the shelf.

you better be quick if you want the October issue, i received the November issue through the post today so i guess the October issue won't be on the shelf much longer, if there are any copies left. it's the issue with the 4 title contenders on the front making boxer/fighting poses. the November issue has a massive photo of Lewis' upset face with a small Kimi-Champion picture.

RIP Jules, never to be forgotten. #KeepFightingMichael
