I will be interested to see what, if anything, the FIA do about Coughlin - surely he cannot be punished if DLR/Alonso were not?

It also surprises me that the FIA offered an amnesty to the drivers, knowing that two of them were implicated in this...

Due to the voting system in Germany, Governments are always made up of coalitions of different parties. At the last election, an almost unprecidented result saw the CDU/CSU (rough equivilant of the Conservatives) go into Government with the SPD (rough equivilant of Labour)

As a French guy, able to read both French and English and reading daily both F1 related media through Yahoo F1 News about the whole story, I would like to give a standing ovation to the French speaking F1 media, and well... a yellow card and even a red card to the English speaking (mostly UK actually) F1 media. Too bad I don't understand Italian, that would be really funny to read it, brain washing to death I am sure.
I mean, French speaking F1 media have always (need thorough confirmation of course) given clear and true (=verified or specifying 'to be confirmed';) information to the public. On the other end, reading the English media has been an opening to rumours, unclear, mysterious and biased news.
How about you in other countries ? in Europe or further away ?

Coughlan lied

de la Rosa and Alonso helped the case.

that they didn't use the info is just crap

second team after mclaren and ferrari is Sauber, understandable cause they were driving longest on bridgestone before they changed to michelin. Look at Renault that was also on michelins struggle so badly and mclaren not because they had the info from ferrari on just that issue so remarkable !

Surely there is another issue here as well. As a result of the TV coverage and interviews at Spa. In effect Max has directly accused Ron of lying. If Ron were to consider it valid he could sue for libel. Everything that came across was his (Max) personal supposition. One would imagine that what he wanted out of the meeting was the 2 year ban for McLaren. Listen to his defence of the FIA position - he personally loathes McLaren, very clear from his reaction and body language.

Until evidence is provided that McLaren did use the info to improve their cars, they didn't.

Let's move to a new line of defense, right?

Fact remains, and confirmed by Dennis

"Everything in this document that the FIA says is true," he said. "True in their content. It happened."

that McLaren used Ferrari's information in the simulator to test the weight distribution (for example).

Thats exactly the point I was making - but you put it much better, davidm :)

Max, as the head of the penalty imposing body, should not make his views public!

they used the info there is no doubt about it. If a mclaren driver is champion this year then the whole season is a fluke and a cheated season.

I agree, it's almost become personal. My view is that Max wanted to give a harsher punishment to Mclaren but was somehow overruled, perhaps Bernie had a say in it?

Just a misunderstanding and Dennis being hypersensitive.

Coughlan and Stepney have a separate hearing i expect they'll both be banned for life coughlan definatly for crime and then lying to fia.

Bernie saved Mclaren for the good of the sport in my opinion how mosley how remained in that post for years is beyond me he's done nothing but ruin the sport he's a man who "retired" to hear everyone's praise and then stayed he's a total idiot.

the good of the sport is often synonymous with the good of one man's wallet

the deal is this has been proven that they had the info, they deserve all what they get, should have been more in my opinion.
