3 years ago williams looked seriously at scott dixon the irl champion but decided it was too bigger risk with a current driver pairing of montoya and ralf schumacher. 3 years later scott dixon is 2nd in the irl championship, has won the past 3 events and is unbeatable on road courses. Competing against the likes of dario franchitti, tony kanaan, helio castro-neves, the penskes, ganassis etc. why wouldnt williams be looking at dixon now? Dan wheldon and marco andretti have had test drives in good cars in the last 2 years yet dixon is the unbeatable on tracks with both left and right hand corners. Thoughts?
wont happen. f1 teams dont go for aging champcar and irl drivers anymore. they go for young gp2 stars and other young people they can build in their team. its no point for dixon either, unless he wants to drive for a crap team like toro rosso or spyker.
Dixon has to be one of the most talented drivers around. Its a shame hes stuck racing ovals most of the time. Bit late for him to move to F1 now though if he wants a serious team. Could still happen though...
