yeah true, but that's just not his character. racing isn't his whole life like it might have been for those you mentioned. seems like he falls in and out of interest from time to time.

Marcl, what makes you think Raikonnen isn't giving the old 100? After 3 races in '03 he had 24 points, in '04, 0, in 05, 7, and in '06, 14. That means, he's now on his best start to a season in 4 years.

Just because a racer might booze recklessly after or snore blissfully before doesn't mean they aren't giving 100% between the flags.

Or maybe the F1 community should come up with a separate points championship for who did the best with the supermarket trolley supplied, or who did the least with the tarmac stripping maglev on offer.

Generally speaking I think it's worth remembering how snotty, smug, hypercritical, self approving, idealistic, circumstance exaggerating and fact denying F1 fans can be. Now is that a definition of fanboys/girls or what!

Note: Hands up those still coming to grips with Raikonnen in a Ferrari and Alonso in a McLaren? There's something sacrilegious about it.

Ive always liked Kimi in the Mclaren, for me it always clicked.

I would have prefered Alonso in the Ferrari and Kimi back at Mclaren...

Tbh i can't see why some people say that Kimi is not interested in racing and hasn't been giving 100% so far this season. He has had to adapt, much like Fernando, to a new team, new tyres etc and up untill now has not been at one with his car yet. Drivers will make mistakes such as Kimi's poor restart in Bahrain but i very much doubt he has lost motivation or enthusiasm for racing at all.

Like I said in the race thread, I think it was about being clever, Kimi used his tyres too hard at the start of the lap imo. He had the fastest sector didn't he, then as the lap went on he slowed, and the final sector he was slower, final sector being the one where you can loose and gain most time.

Well thats my take on it.

A good example is JB and RB.

JB did what Massa did, thing was RB was so so much quicker in first sector and JB so slow, it didn't really do much ;)

edit 2 - ive put a warning on my post, some people should do the same, though it would be dumb to go in this thread you know what poeple are like ;)

not really. there are many different discussions, that don't include the current race, going on at any given time. someone may want to read those other threads and join in, and they will consciously avoid the main race thread to not spoil it for themselves if they haven't seen qualli or race. to discuss the latest results in other threads is actually the silly thing to do, when there is a dedicated thread for it.

they guy who started this topic, after todays result, well its a total slap in his face. but wtf is wrong with kimi this year?? he drove heaps better at mclaren, if schumacher was still there massa would still be a no one, and schumacher would have won all 4 races this year looking at car performance. whats wrong with kimi? hes obcviously 10 times better then midfield massa, but for some reason nothing is happening at ferrari for him. is it his race engineer? or set up for his car, similar to how montoya had setup problems at williams. this is really weird, its almost time for someone to say to kimi to lift his game, cos it seems he is underperforming, being upstaged by massa is like being upstaged by scott speed or adrian sutil, cos massa was never better then his midfield teammates, somethings out of place here, but well done to massa, he is proving better then his stereotype persona.

Massa is a much better driver than you give him credit for dkpioe. Plus the fact is that Felipe has been linked with Ferrari for quite some time now and is more of a "family" member than Kimi by the looks of it.
Kimi likes to race but doesn't seem to interested in the other aspects of the job like staying behind after a session with the engineers going of data for hours, apparently Kimi left before Schumacher did after qualifying on Saturday. That doesn't show total commitment to me no matter how naturally gifted he is.

What about Alonso? He was outpaced by a rookie again. How the hell is this possible? Looks like he doesn`t give 100% in the team, being 2 times WDC. That`s much worse, than the thing with Kimi, at least he wasn`t outpaced by a rookie.

Rookie does not mean bad driver, Alonso's doing a lot better than Kimi is, it's just that Hamilton is something special.

and rookie doesn't mean he's never driven a car before.

also remember Lewis drove a McLaren before Alonso ever did, and Alonso has had to re-train his mind away from Michelin tyres to Bridgestone, while Lewis only had a test or two on Michelins before switching to Bridgestones, so it was probably easier to learn the new tyres quicker than it was for Alonso after using Michelins for years.

my opinion is that massa is very much an improving driver its clear from last season and this that he doesnt make as many mistakes as he did earlier in his career, however Raikkonen has said that hes struggling a bit with the ferrari, i think both drivers are closely matched, and people may say massa is overrated but i do belive that he spent last year learning as much as he could from ms as he could and it has shown, in brazil last year both ferrari drivers were pretty much matched on pace, however massa's wet weather driving is clearly still god awful

This could be where the Kimi not doing that 'extra' is coming in.

Maybe he should start doing more than what he just 'needs' to.

I still fully believe he is F1's quickest driver.

And about Alonso we shouldn't forget, he has to get used to new tyres and a new team, he has to forget how to use the old tyres. Lewis just needs to learn thats it.

It would be very very embarrasing for the 2 time WDC, Shumi beater to loose to Lewis this year. If that does happen, it would be impossible for anyone to rate Alonso as well as he has been.

Think of it, the guy has just gone head to head with the sports most successful driver and come out on top, twice. And then he gets made look a fool by the new boy.

Alonso made a mistake trying to keep up with Massa and damaging his car by going off. If that hadn't happened i'm sure he would have finished in second place. Despite what James Allen the Hamilton super fan boy said Fernando was fastest in second Friday practice and in the final qualifying session but Allen would make you believe that Lewis beat Fernando in every session.
