if they must add a chicane at tamburello, add a tyre chicane instead. don't ruin the original track. and it's crazy to remove variate acque minerale and variate bassa

In a perfect world the best tracks would build better facilities, chicanes would be removed, tobacco laws would be the same everywhere, and the cars would have big fat slicks, smaller wings and pass each other!

I am gutted Imola is being scrapped! Imola is by far my favourite circuit, next to Interlagos! Big mistake IMO!

i know ickx is belgian too, but my mind is in 88 right now ;-)

maybe bernie's saying that if another uk track did improve thier game they'd have a chance to take it from silverstone.

the europpean gp should rotate thru different, new, out of the way kind of places - sweden, finland, ireland, baltics, portugal etc. who cares if the tracks aren't top notch - standards should be lowered a bit. and facalities for teams anyway, can't get much worse than monaco.

In my view, the latest modifications to the Hungarian GP have made overtaking a real possibility, BUT they have made the Hungaroring a very close copy of the Nurburgring.

In lieu of this, surely one of them should go. And yes, following the 'Germany has 2 races' argument, I'd prefer to see Nurburgring ditched, because Hungary is a beautiful country and has worked hard for its Grand Prix.

Imola is never a great race, so I'm not too fussed about losing it. I'm looking forward to Austria's return in the future too...

Now let's put an idea on the table regarding Monaco - how about a move out of Southern France and into Macau? The Guia circuit is just as tight, far more scenic, and there is more chance for overtaking on the long highway section after the S/F line.

please get rid of both german tracks, or restore them to their configyration of a few seasons ago. we need tracks like the older hockenheim and spa, not mickey mouse new hockenheim and sepang and hungaroring.

I'm defending Sepang because we always see overtaking there, and we have yet to see a dull race there - in my opinion.

Also, there are very few countries with such unpredictable weather, which adds an extra element of uncertainty to the race.

DEFINATELY!!!
Bring a grand prix to Mondello!
(OK so the new Renault mightn't fit on Mondello's track but hey lets be thankful for small mercies);)

By the way b-tone, I personally resent you referring to Ireland as "out of the way"....

I am not too surprised that Imola is dropped from the calender although it does throw up some exciting races in the past. I just sort of expected it.

If there was a choice between Hockenheim and Nurburgring. I would drop the Nurburgring because the current track is like a big shame in comparision with the Nordschleife and there will be only one Nurburgring no doubt!

But it is a real shame after the current Nurburgring upgraded the track and their facilities recently. That's F1 I suppose.

Its not just imola and silverstone he is having a go at but europe in general he says there is no future and the best place for f1 is where the economic growth is and thats India, far east and turky.

That somes it up the word "economic" he just wants the money and not whats best for fans.

All teams are in europe, all the drivers are from europe.

So he got the teams to drop the break away and now he does this, he will end up losing crontrol and I can see the break away talk happening again.

There is no car market in india for Jag, Merc, BMW ferrari. Its bloody stupid and he is gonna ruin F1.

Bernie really needs to go he has got to money hungry, yes he done a lot for F1 but now he is gonna mess it up through his own greed.

Soon we will be watching all f1 races at 3am

Name a track that's not tragic...but anyway the direction Bernie is taking F1 (out of '3rd world' europe) is stupid - what does a nation's economic growth have to do with having a race? And why does a GP has to stay at the same track every year. Why not alternate Silverstone/Brands Monza/Imola Melbourne/Philip Island and of course Laguna Seca/Road America!

what does a nation's economic growth have to do with having a race?

MONEY.

You are asking th ewrong type of questions. In a capitalstic system the question is never "why?", but always "how much?".

I was just discussing it with jginete the other day: why do you think VHS became standard though Beta and Video 2000 were much better? Because quality is no argument if there is a big lobby with lots of cash to burn behind the other product. Same here.

Thats probably to please Merc and BMW but i bet if they were not in the sport this would not have happened.

It does make u laugh both Bernie and Max saying F1 has no future in europe then bernie extends the contract for a track that is not that great.

Looks like MS is getting fed up as well :

World champion Michael Schumacher, through his ties with Italian- based team Scuderia Ferrari, is an ambassador for the Republic of San Marino.

Asked if he'd miss the race, the German said: "yes, in one sense. But Ecclestone is always saying a lot of things. Let's wait and see."

Check the map, Chris. Luxembourg is between Germany, France and Belgium - actually not very far from the Nürburgring.
