20,000 RPM for whole race?? wouldn't they be better building something that can just go a whole race at 19 (or whatever their engine normally revs at)?

I predict it'll last about 12 laps, given favourable conditions...

everyone who does not have a new engine will suck this weekend, becouse the guys with new engines will run 20.000 rpm the whole race.

thinking about it alonso could afford to change his engine so he has a fresh one, take the ten place grid penalty, put the engine to max revs, and finish somewhere in the points

That could be possible, but listen to this:
thinking about it alonso could afford to change his engine so he has a fresh one, take the ten place grid penalty, put the engine to max revs, and blow it up and then MS becomes WDC.

Alonso gets a new engine for Brazil so he wont be taking a 10 place drop.

mclaren have next years engine in the car just like honda due to the engine freeze.

if u remember the engine spec had to complete 2 race distance before the end of the year. Ferrari have now done this, honda have as well and mclaren will this week as will toyota if they both finish. Renault as far as i know have not.

can not fully remember the rule now

If Alonso change his engine, he will start on the middle of the grid, he have more chances of having an accident on the race start.

yes but from McLaren drivers only Kimi will have engine that is build for next years regulations ,De La Rosa will have new engine that is build to last only 1 gp (so it's a much better engine).Honda hasnt done 2 race distance yet I think because they used their new engine spec first time at Suzuka after they abandoned it in Monza.

honda used it in china and japan i think.

Its pointless kimi changing the engine he will be 10 places back and just have the same as other drivers a car thet they can run at higher revs so he wont gain much anyway. Plus that engine kimi has needs to complete the race distance so it can be used next year

If I were Kimi I would blow the engine, like it always happened with him when he needed, he won't be at McLaren next season anyway...

well not sure but I remember that they used those new engines only at Japan ....yes it has to be like that because they took new engines at Monza and used those in China so they couldnt have taken new engines in there because engines have to be used 2 race weekends.

I don't see what the fuss is about. Surely if Cosworth want to go out 'with a bang', then revving the engine up really high is the ideal solution...right?
