Renowned party-animal Kimi Räikkönen found himself in a spot of bother prior to Formula One's three-week August break.

McLaren's Finn, who is rumoured to have now signed a definitive Ferrari contract for 2007, joined the Red Bull team for a post-race party after the Hungarian GP earlier this month.

But German newspaper 'Bild am Sonntag' reports that Räikkönen became so drunk that he lost his wallet - containing more than (US)$7500, his drivers' license, identification documents and his passport.

Predictably, the 26-year-old driver ran into trouble the following day when attempting to leave the country.

Surely if he doesn't have his passport, then he won't be able to get to the Turkish GP in a few days?

Why I'm not surprised? I wonder if Kimi was drunk before he hit Liuzzi ;) What an ad for Johnnie Walker LOL

Thats pure bullshit, who cares if he is drunk (first time this year, that this @#$%& came out) or not. What counts, is the performance on track, and he is undoubtably brilliant there...

Next you'll be seeing dumb headlines like "Alonso loses a shoe!!" or "Massa in scandalous burning-the-dinner incident".

Honestly, is the news really that slow?

Losing a shoe, or burning dinner doesn't have a classic narrative in our culture of massive loss and grief. Getting drunk has. The modern version of this story often contains cars. Celebs that have everything going for them who "burn up" in the drink, or on other substances, while living in the fast lane do too. That is the appeal of the story. And that is also why you won't see stories about burnt dinners and loss of shoes, but you will continue to see stories about alcohol.

It's only after we've lost everything, that we are free to do anything.

So a 26 year old was drunk. Wow, that's unusual, never seen that before. Why do they keep reporting stuff like this? Whether it's true or not, so what?

Given the fact that the BILD wrote it, you shouldn't give a @#$%& about it anyway - this is the only newspaper I know that probably lies even more than the Sun...
