yes, those are the wings (called x wings or tower wings).

Tyrell had them in '97 for the high downforce circuits, then Sauber, Ferrari and Jordan also had them in '98.

I'm sure they took one side off because it interfered with refuelling, I'll have a look for some photos.

maybe. or maybe it broke off while racing or in a pitstop. surely having it only on 1 side will do more harm than good for the aerodynamics?

and i remember IWE's fantasy car had all those wings! (x-wings on sidepod and that like arrows on nose)
