Apparantly, says ITV-F1.com.

Question:

Umm.. why?

What has he ever done to warrent that seat? You would think with all the moo-lah Toyota have they could find someone better.
He's the most overrated driver in the paddock.

What has Schumi Jr. ever done to deserve the millions Toyota shoveled at him?

Maybe they see Jarno is more of a team player and someone they can work with.

Most overrated driver? Nah, thats Button or Webber, both of those guys are shite. Jarno HAS won a race...

Toyota just wanted a big name when they first got Ralf, any Schumacher would have done. they'd have got Rolf (father) if he could fit in the car!

Toyota have made some stupid driver decisions ever since they came to F1. Let's take a look:-

2002 - Salo and McNish. Great. An also-ran who had potential but never results, and a 30-year old debutant who was too slow for a drive further up the field.

2003/04 - Panis and Da Matta. Almost a carbon copy of the previous season, except less charisma. Da Matta at least had potential in America, but there were SO many more talented drivers they could have signed.

2005/06 - Paying over the odds for Schumacher because of his name, and grabbing Trulli after he was excreted from Renault. Started to look good, but once again they both proved that they aren't top-line drivers. At this point I was wondering whether Toyota had more money than vision.

2007 - Apparently they do. What's the betting we'll see some other also-ran reject filling the second seat? They were after Coulthard FFS...

I think Ralf signed a three year deal.

Webber was my second choice for most ovverated driver :)

Also, last year Ralf scored almost double the points Trulli did. He has done more to deserve his seat, even if he's lazy and goes off the boil sometimes.

So they fire Gascoyne, but want Trulli for another 3 years...
Brilliant.

Gascoyne sucks. Name one good car hes designed.

Trulli is as good as Toyota can hope for. Who else can they get with there performance bracket? Not like the top flight drivers are going to go running is it?

Wasnt designed by Gascoyne. Was overlooked by Gascoyne. As was all the work he did for Jordan.

Mike G has never designed any car in F1. He has simply overlooked the process. Very much like Newey did for one of the McLarens.

actually to my knowledge he was more hands on at Toyota... since he replaced Gustav 'Legend' Brunner. and as such the cars were a bit @#$%&, cos he'd never done that job before!

and who had a go at The Allan? HEATHEN!

So who stole Ferrari designs? ;)

All Mike done at TF was divide the design dept into 2 logical teams, current car, and next years.

He got 12million or whatever for it too!

Actually, fisi is rather good, he's just overshadowed by a mind blowingly awesome team mate.

His race pace is shite of course, but he's pretty fast otherwise

pace counts most in the race, so you cant say that! if hes not fast in the race, then where is he fast?! what does it matter if hes fast in qually if hes slow in the race?

I'm pretty sure it was nowhere near that.

*Looks*
6 R. Schumacher 45 pts
7 J. Trulli 43 pts

Hardly almost double :P

Plus Trulli was infront until the very last race, despite missing out on a podium or two earlier in the year due to failures.

good for Jarno. I thing this is just the kind of stability he needs in a team to deliver. Once he settles in a little more I think he has a far better shot at delivering them their 1st win.

Well outright pace, he doesn't seem to have the same concentration over such a long period as some of the other drivers. In fact, if he's told to push by the team, he magically wakes up and puts in some awesome lap times, and then kinda falls asleep again. If he can get over the sleepy part he would probably be a threat to the championship one day.

Obviously not this year, he went and found somewhere to sleep as soon as the lights came on ;)
