It was probably just a "font test". If you look well, they used 4 or 5 different things on the sidepods.

they should've put the other half of the alphabet on the opposite side.

would still have looked stupid tho. they should put random messages on, completely unreleated stuff. like "i love mushy peas" or something down the side.
