Singapore Grand Prix? Possible?

Max Mosley has added another voice of power to Singapore's apparent bid for a Formula One race.

With F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone already admitting the possibility, the sport's governing body President - Mosley - says the Asian country would be a 'welcome addition' to the calendar.

The FIA chief told newspaper Today: ''Singapore is a vibrant business region with a huge motorsport fan base.

''If the infrastructure and financial commitment is in place, then it is always possible that Singapore could host a Grand Prix.
''
A Monaco-like street circuit would be the most likely venue.

Well the article said that a Monaco style street circuit is most likely, so Tilke can't come in with his crappy corners and mess it up.

*EDIT* The only thing I do like about Tilke's tracks is that they are very very wide. Wide enough to land a bloody 747 on.

That be why the Sepang circuit is next to the Kuala Lumpur airport? So that the back and pit straight can act as spare runways? ;-)

i heard that Singapore might be hosting a grand prix a long time ago. Even then it was suggested it would be a street-circuit.

many countried didnt had a damned idea of F1, i mean, the 98% of their countrymen until either one of their countrymen went into F1 racing or they began to host a grand prix :). after that, almost 4 outta 5 countrymen had an idea bout F1. it happened in Colombia, India, Hungary, Bahrein, Malaysia. why wouldnt happen this @ singapore ;)

----------------------------

Just note USA doesn't like F1 (since 1981)

Hungarian GP, 1997. Last laps just when damon's problems had just begun:
(Louise Goodman has just reported that Damon Hill was on the radio with Tom Walkinshaw)
Murray: "How do they do that, Martin? How does a man talk calmly and especially to his team boss, when Damon in the situation he's in?"
Martin: "Well, you press a little button on the steering wheel and start talking, Murray. There's a little speaker in the front of your crash helmet...";)
