Well maybe but Mika and DC had a agreement that the driver that is in first place after the first corner can win the race without a threat from his team mate and I think DC was a true centleman and did what he and Mika had agreeded (I'm sure Mika would have done the same thing) .And this race was quite different then Austria 2002 where Barrichello had lead the whole race and he had to let Michael pass in final lap .

Well Mika is a true centleman just like DC is ;)

but regardless of any pre-race agreement DC and Mika had, Mika messed up (wether it was his fault or the teams fault is irrelevant), therefore DC had good reason to tell Mika that he himself deserved to take the win.

well it was still early in the season so its not like any championship was on the line for either Mclaren driver. In my eyes that incident was just as much a farce as Indy 2002.

yes Mika would have been angry, but he had already been given a free race win he didn't deserve (Jerez), he didn't need another one.

dunno what indy2002 was all about dont think rb was meant to win that race ms said he wanted a dead heat which is imposible.

1998 was an agrement with the drivers that dc honoured took until 2001 japan for mika to pay him back, but mind u dc cost him point in austria 1999. Would have been his final podium but he let dc have it.

Senna and berger done the same in japan 1991, they said who ever led the 1st corner would win the race so senna moved over, i do think he could have done this earlier than he did but hey

Pre-race agreements are crap, takes the meaning of racing away. Maybe agree about something like T1, but a race is a race and that's when you have to go for the win.

yeah i don't think there's such thing as an agreement on the first corner i mean, how much of a looser are this guys?., this are professionals who battled their way to the pinneacle of motorsports., if an agreement "was" to be made, it should be after the 2nd pitstop or something like that..... not at the first corner...... do you think this guys are gonna just sit behind the other one because an agreement?

It was told in Finnish magazines and tv that he (Mika) wanted avoid getting to interrogations.. That way he did get free from all negative things of F1 2 hours earlier

Kimi, so, Massa Fernando Sebastian is faster than you. Can you confirm you understood that message?

Mika and DC had an agreement in Melbourne only because McLaren was over a second faster than anyone else so there was no reason to battle and lose the race to other teams .

yes and as it turnd out mika pushed his car to the max after the pit stop thing

but the arrangement should have only been honoured if everything else went smoothly with no trouble for either mclaren or by either driver.

if for example Mika was leading, and drove himself off the circuit and DC went past, should DC be obliged to slow down to let Mika go past, to honour their agreement? i don't think he should.

the arrangement goes out of the window if anything wrong or unusual happens, i.e. driving into the pits unnecessarily like Mika did.

i think due to it being a team error they just told dc what happened and he made up his own mind. If mika had made an error then dc probably would not have let him back pass

but was it a team error though? they claim the radio communications broke, so Mika thought he heard he had to come in, but aren't all pit instructions confirmed by the pitboard?

if he though he had to come in, he would wait to see the pitbaord that says PIT in big letters.

At Japan in 1991 on the last lap, Senna gifted Berger the win coming out of the last chicane and onto the main straight - just like Barrichello and Schumacher at Austria in 2002.
